Ever Give a Player a Nickname?

You might have to move this, but it really doesn't fit into one sport and it is about sport gaming...

Ever give a player a nick name after playing with him in a game?

For example, earlier this morning (Gotta love work and school vacation at the same time) I was playing in the NCAA Championship game as the Syracuse Orange versus the Vanderbilt Commodores. By the way, I'm 417-180 with 6 championships at the age of 42!

Back to the story, Vanderbilt is the slight favorites as they are rated a bit better than us. We play a game back and forth with my squad up 43-41 at the half. The furthest we got ahead of them in the second half was by 10 or so, but they fought back and kept it close the entire time. Everytime Vanderbilt got within one score, tied, or got up by a point or two a player on my squad named Jayson Bilas would make some spectacular play and drain a basket to put us back ahead or stop their momentum. One of the best plays was when I kicked it out to him for a wide open three, I pumped fake as I saw a defender running at him, the defender takes the bait leaps toward the bench, as Bilas scoots over and hits the open 3 to give us the lead again like 82-81.

Fast forward, Vanderbilt as sneaked ahead with a 94-91 lead with around 14 seconds left... the point guard speeds up the court and gets across the halfcourt line and I called a TO to set a play up. Bilas had been playing the best out of everyone at this point and felt even though he wasn't the highest "rated" three point shooter I wanted him taking the shot. So, the play begins, Bilas gets the ball.. runs past his screen at the top of the key and shoots a three that looks like it is going to fall... but it doesn't. It bounces, high of the rim but somehow we get the offensive rebound with like 5 seconds left, I kick it back out to Bilas, who takes the ball to his right at full speed, then stops, pulls up with a man in his face and knocked down the game tying 3 pointer with 0.4 seconds left.

Out of nowhere, I randomly say out loud, Jayson "Big Shot" Bilas! To end the story, with the game tied in overtime at 109-109 Bilas drives to the basket with around 4 seconds left, gets slowed down, backs down his player and throws up a short left hook that bounces off the rim 3 times and falls into the basket as time expired.

This time (Thank God no one was around) I shout out "BIG SHOT BILASSSSSSS".

So I'm wondering, has anyone ever given a player a nickname over a span of a game or season playing with him?

This might make me a loser, but hell I knew that anyways as I enjoy browsing a forum about sport video games lol.

Wow. No I've never given anyone a nickname but it sounds like you certainly have fun while playing.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

      Haha, I know

I usually don't get like that... but it was just that cool of a game.

I called McBride on the Fighting Illini the Illini Pride. Not really anything big. I called Randle the killer too. Nothing big. When I play NBA 2K7 against a friend, I give all my players names but those names are just spur of the moment to make the competition a little frustrated.

Back in Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball for the N64, my brothers and I used to play seasons, and we'd have a certain amount of trades we can do. For some reason, Rich Aurilia was someone who was always involved in every trade just so the deal could get done.

We started to call him "The Trading Bitch".
