Any recommendations for a good xbox game?

I just recently purchased an XBOX 360 about a month ago. Never had an XBOX before...just had a PS2. Since there's a big library of regular XBOX games that are affordable now I was just curious if anyone had any suggestions. I thought about Halo 2, Fable, Ninja Gaiden, Half Life 2, and Jade Empire(I saw where IGN gave it a score of 99...Is it really that good?). I tried looking up for some impressions for these games but there just too old to find any. Any advice or impressions? Thanks

All those you listed are great titles. I would hold off on Half-Life 2 and just wait for the 360 version which includes the game, Episode I & 2, Team Fortross and Portal. Fantatsic deal.

I'm a big Ninja Gaiden fan. It is great old school action at its best. If you decide to go that route, get Ninja Gaiden: Black and be prepared for a very, VERY tough game. But so rewarding when you suceed.

Edit: Oh, as to Jade Empire. I liked it, although I do not think it warranted a 99 score. But different people have different tastes.

Thanks for the info...I didn't know there were two Ninja Gaiden games...I'll be sure to get Ninja Gaiden: Black then.

Black is essentialy a remix of Ninja Gaiden. It has all Ninja Gaiden has, plus the two Hurricane Packs that were released as DL content, including the ability to move the camera with the right stick while playing, which is VERY useful!!!

Yeah, I figured the review score or 99 was too high..I'm still trying to decide whether I want Fable or Jade Empire.

Remember to check the backward compatibility list to see if these games you want are playable on the 360 or not.

If you like more traditional RPGs, go with Jade Empire. It is longer and follows more of an RPG like system of leveling up, visiting towns, talking to characters and then battling. Battles are in real-time (not turn based) but you are restricted to an invisible "arena" of sorts when a fight begins.

Fable is more of an action RPG and got some bad press after release simply because it failed to live up to the insane hieghts that the game's creator painted in our heads leading up to its release. Peter M. promised us the world and delivered, well, a pretty damn good game, just not the insanely deep experience he originally commented on. If you go into Fable with realistic expectations, it is great. I enjoyed it more than Jade Empire myself.

Jade Empire is a great game, it's just shorter than usual rpg's. The story is great, the fighting is great, the graphics are great, it's just an overall great game. And to Tanis, Jade Empire's fights are not limited to an "arena". If you are in an area you can move anywhere you want in that area and the fighting is closer to a third person action game than an rpg. Jonpt, just look at some gamplay movies to see how the fighting is.

I'll have to pop it in and try again, since that is how I remembered it. I know you can move around wherever you want when in combat-mode (you can even press both triggers and run around if you like), but I still thought when the game went into combat-mode you were limited in how far away you could move.

Either way it is not a big deal, since I never felt the urge to run past enemies or avoid battles.

I'm probably gonna cave in and get both RPGs and Ninja Gaiden. Might as well they all sound good and they're cheap now. Now I gotta find out if they are backward compatiable. I just thought all of the XBOX games were.

No if you are in combat mode that camera just focuses on the guy you're targeting, you can still move around when it's locked.

if you like racing games, i would recommend Forza. It's the best console racing game of all time imo (much better than Gran Turismo)

Not really into racing simulators. I did like Burnout Takedown from EA though. The sense of speed was amazing on that game.

A really good RPG would be Star Wars :Kinghts Of The Old Republic...And KOTOR II..although KOTOR 2 was missing things cause it was pushed for a Holiday Release, Its still a good game...I liked Jade Empire, but Never really felt challenged in that game..Seemed too easy even on the hardest difficulty...If your thinkin about Fable, Pick up Fable:The Lost Chapters...Its nothing more than the originial wit a cpl more places/missions to go through
