If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -

An analogy is an analogy. You're coming across as being overly sensitive, in this case. As far as the analogy itself was concerned, it makes perfect sense to me.
The Dreamcast is the biggest target of revisionist history. I'm not quite sure why, probably because it's life was so brief there wasn't much time for the glow of a new console to wear off. I still own my Dreamcast, I thought it was a nice system, but it's not as good as a lot of people try to make it out to be. The only truly great franchise to come from the Dreamcast was NFL 2k (Sonic was better in 2D, Soul Caliber was the sequel to a PSX game). I applauded Sega for their attempts at originality with Shenmue and Seamen, but neither title was really revolutionary (Hey You Pikachu came before Seamen, and Shenmue was that era's Fable). To me, the Dreamcast just ran out of steam. Sega had some great ideas, but the execution was just a little off in pretty much ever area. The VMU's didn't have enough storage space and were pricey, the controller bulky, no broadband, no DVD, unrealized games, etc. As I said earlier, I still have my Dreamcast though I haven't played it in ages. I don't plan on getting rid of it though and I'm sure there are some lazy days ahead of me where I dust it off for a few hours but I can't say I really miss it. Sega is still around making games (though I can't recall the last great, non-sports title they produced) so it's not like much has really changed.Comment

The DC is really what started the "nextgen" hysteria for many of us. Seeing commercials and videos for NFL2K was jaw-dropping. You throw titles like Shenmue, Phantasy Star Online, Soul Caliber, NBA2K and that console really gave us some phenomenal titles. The excitement that console's launch brought to the gaming world hadn't been seen before. I remember the lines at midnight and that hadn't been done before (at least I don't remember it for the PS1).
In so many our minds the DC was the first real nextgen system. The system that finally upped the ante and made us really want to upgrade NOW. The PS put us into a 3D world, but it was still a raw, unrefined world, where the DC finally put the beauty into it.
I miss my DC, but I miss the way it made me feel when it was around. I still feel excited about opening every single game, but not like I did then.
I enjoy my 360 and all the periphials, but in terms of gaming, the only difference would be voice chat in games.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment
