      Re: Frontlines: Fuel of War

I thought it was pretty good. The story is alot more realistic than most and it's centered on resources (oil) running out over the next 40 years, and the global depression that would lead to. Famine, new global alliances....it all gives the story a more personal feel. Moreso than the usual 'x terrorist has a nuke, OH NO!" We usually see. Squadmates talking about their family starving and such...

Gameplay-wise, it's no COD, but then again, COD is a game of the year candidate. This feels like a 7.5-ish game. The recoil on the rifle is more extreme, and the animations are meh...but overall it's not bad so far, and I can definitley see this being pretty cool online. I kinda like it, but it won't set the world on fire.

I think they released the demo a bit early. It doesn't come out now till Feb. 12 so you figure this demo was from October or so.

That is exactly how I felt last night when I played the demo. The game seems some what fun but when you know you have COD 4... it just changes.

COD spoiled us so bad in FSP its not even funny. Other than Gears, Rainbow, and Halo, I don't see any other FSP coming into this group. For me anyway.

I agree, they should have held off on a demo until closer to release. I didn't think it was that bad, but it's really lacking polish. The Kaos Studios Community Manager said there has been a lot of optimizations, improvements and tweaks since the demo build. Maybe we will get another demo before the release and hopefully it's multiplayer.

I got a key for the open beta but I cant play it because you need a strong comp. to play it.

                Multiplayer demo confirmed

Xbox 360 owners were able to get an early taste of Frontlines: Fuel of War's single player mode thanks to last week's demo, but the question most people have been asking us is 'Why isn't there a multiplayer demo?' Given Kaos Studios’ heritage, and the fact that Frontlines has been designed to deliver epic multiplayer gameplay supporting 32 players over Xbox LIVE in gigantic open world environments packed with next-gen weapons, drones and vehicles, that's a pretty good question…

So we’re happy to report that a Multiplayer demo is indeed on its way to Xbox LIVE in the New Year, with a number of substantial improvements to graphics, performance and controls. Kaos have been listening very closely to feedback since the release of the single-player demo, and the results should be immediately apparent. Specifically, a slicker, consistent frame rate combined with additional graphical oomph as the code is polished for a February release date, together with a substantial improvement to the control scheme and stick sensitivity.

                      Delayed on ps3:
THQ got in touch with Firing Squad and confirmed that the PS3 release is not canceled, but is simply delayed. The Xbox 360 and PC versions are still targeted for February while the PS3 release is scheduled for "later in 2008."

I must say it looks like they've fixed a lot from the demo, the shooting looks much better now than before. Hopefully the multiplayer demo comes out soon just so we can see how it plays.

From the video it reminds me a lot of BF2 and Warhawk.

The multiplayer demo should be coming soon. According to this from Tuesday.

Farrell also said that a demo of Frontlines should appear on Xbox Live within the next week or two
