Re: Star Wars: Force Unleashed (360/PS3)

OK... So I keep seeing the ads for this game, and there's something that confuses me.

I'm not really a Star Wars fan. I've seen all the movie, and I enjoyed a few (they were decent, average movies), and I hated a few (I thought Ep. III was one of the worst movies I've ever seen).

So my background isn't really up to par... But from what I've seen in the movies, and what I'm seeing in the ads - the storylines don't seem to mesh.

When Darth Vader becomes the Darth Vader we know - those stormtroopers are under his control. At the end of the movie series (Ep. VI?) he dies. Buh-bye...

But in the ads it's constantly showing this apprentice of his fighting stormtroopers... But, why? They would have been under his control from the time he became Darth Vader... So why would he have his own troops attacking his apprentice? And then he only loses control of them when he dies... But then he wouldn't be in the game, and you wouldn't be his apprentice... Because he wouldn't exist.

That's just something I've been wondering from seeing the ads and thinking about the movies. Just thought maybe someone could clear it up.

Lets just say that Vader has a different agenda for himself and you as his apprentice. The Stormtroopers are under Vaders control, but they are "expendable" to Vader, and he has no loyalty to them.

Exactly right. Two words: expendable assetts. And as far as the nature of his relationship with his apprentice/the emperor/Imperial troops..............treachery is the way of the Sith.

This isn't a spoiler but this game takes place sometime after the original trilogy (IV, V, VI) and before the prequels (I, II, III)

Anywho, these impressions are awesome! I'll be renting the game today or tomorrow just to see if I can play it without getting super frustrated at it. If I haven't gotten far enough through it and i'm enjoying the game i'll definitely have to buy it.

          Thanks guys!

I've been playing this game for 7 hour straight.

            AWESOME game.

I went straight to Sith Lord difficulty...and let me tell you...in the later stages, the battles against Jedi are EPIC.

            I'm talking....like 10 minutes long.

You have to be able to block and parry as much as you hack and slash.

I've been fighting this guy for literally 12 minutes and decided to pause and come over and talk about it. It's awesome!!!

Lots of God of War type "mini games" during battles to. Very very cool.

I was on the fence also, but other than a few quirky camera angles early on and getting used to the targeting system, I have honestly enjoyed every minute of playing this game.

I swear to god, the boss on the 3rd level is the most insanely difficult boss I've ever gone against in a game.

I'm now up to an hour and a half straight of fighting this guy and he is flat out kicking my azz.

Re: Star Wars: Force Unleashed (360/PS3)

For those confused, the game takes place between Episodes III and IV......between the trilogies. The Death Star is still under construction and so is Vader's flagship the Executor (the Super Star Destroyer).

One thing I thought was especially cool when playing as Vader was that he has this one badass move that Evil Anakin had during his slaughter of the seperatist leaders on Mustafar in Episode III. That one part where he'd wiped out everyone in the room except one and began to walk away and the remaining guy tried to shoot him in the back and he simply whipped his lightsaber over his shoulder and deflected it back at him without even looking......Vader does that too if you stand there on the first level with your back to your enemies as they shoot at you. Sweet.

I'm on the Raxis Prime stage near the beginning of the game. Having a blast. So much better than the demo led me to believe.

                          First impressions...

The First level is one of the coolest opening sequences EVER. You get to play as Vader and obviously, your powers are insane.

However, I'm fighting the end boss of this stage right now and let me just say...

THE IS THE WORST CAMERA ANGLE IN THE HISTORY OF VIDEO GAMES!!!!!

Literally..and no I'm not joking...I'm waaaaaaaaaaaay off to the left side of the screen and the camera view is so bad I'm staring at a giant tree that takes up 70% of the screen. In fact, I can't even SEE the boss right now.

It's bad enough that whoever designed this final fight and camera angle should be shot....with a rusty bullet that is simultaneously on fire.

Other than that, this game rocks.
Damnit man, why didn't you put spoiler tags?

                            The fun is outweighing

                            the camera angle
the screen clipping up when you turn too fast

                            SO FAR

                              What difficulty?

Played the first two levels so far and this game is amazing! As a Star Wars fan, I'm absolutely loving it. The gameplay, the story, and the upgrades (light sabers, powers, combos, etc.)

If you like/love Stars Wars, pick this up. Especially with all the deals out there with either gift cards or shirts!

The cut scenes are quick and get to the point. I'm sure on harder difficulty this would equal over 7 hours.
