Your favorite RTS games on PC..........
I'm always looking for a good RTS game-basically one of epic scale. 1. Rise of Legends - very underrated, but some of the best strategy I've seen
2. Command and Conquer Generals - I loved the old ones, but the modern setting made it four stars for me (after the patches that fixed the balance of course)
3. Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 - Soviets and Allies, cheesy acting, what could be better?
4. Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots - perfectly combined the RTS genre and the 'Civilization' franchise, plus I'm partial to the Americans in the T&P expansion
5. Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-earth II - builds on the first game and just gives you more for the buck...AWESOME!
On an aside, is 'Company of Heroes' really that good? I've been looking at it, as I'm a big RTS fan, but dropping fifty bones on another WWII game (I'm so SICK of that crap) is a frightening proposition, especially with 'Supreme Commander' coming out Tuesday. I'd like some impressions and reviews from you guys who have it, if you wouldn't mind.
Also, can you be the Axis side in the game? Or is it solely an Allies campaign.

Close Combat was a great game. Especially with the mods out there. I still play Gold, Juno, Sword on CC5.
Medieval Total War with the Lands to Conquer 2.1 mod has to be my favorite now though. I have put more time in that game. I even upgraded my graphics card to get the most outta it.
I might pick up Comany of Heroes because of the reviews. I played breifly but not enough to get into the game.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment

Spoken with perfection-most games that are made were really designed for just online gaming-and the single player experiance is just a "trainer"-COH is a breath of fresh air. The AI can and will beat you if your'e not paying attention or make a bad decision. The tide will turn in your favor to theirs,and so forth. The graphics are amazing,you'd have to see it to believe it. I should mention though-your rig should exceed the specs on the box or you might have slowdown. I've played this game for hours on end and it usually stays in my DVD drive unless I'm going to get into some RomeTW. Someone asked about campaign play-haven't even tried it yet and I have had this game since release day. Too busy learning new strategies and trying to out fox the AI on the harder levels. Also,in skirmish mode,you can play as either side and have AI partners that will fight.The explosions,mayhem,and strategy,makes this game a very well balanced RTS sim. RON: T&P with a modern mod applied.(modern weaponry for information age...m1a1, f22, etc.) Also of course Command & Conquer, especially Red Alert 2 though I want to try Generals again. Axis & Allies is a nice WWII, not easy but fun.
Lastly I've been trying Hearts of Iron II: Doomsday, I guess more of a strategy game but is kind of a mix...kind of. (since it is not turn based) But for a full RTS I would say between C&C and RON:T&P.Comment
