Re: Bullet Witch (360)
Well, I may get flamed, but I am getting it this week. It seems like it is different from a lot that has been released on the 360 to date. I love my first person shooters, but this seems like a good change of pace. It is 3rd person with some magic added in. It looks like it will be some mindless fun. The destruction you can do with spells looks pretty cool. It may suck, but I am taking a chance.Comment

Shadows/Drag, good luck.
IGN Review=4.0
Closing Comments
In a time when gamers are constantly looking for a "next-gen" experience, Cavia has put together a game that feels like it was made for the original PlayStation. Sure, the graphics are in a high resolution and you get achievements for beating the game, but other than that there is little to make Bullet Witch feel current. The AI is atrocious, collision detection is hit or miss, and the gameplay tends towards the frustrating side of the spectrum all too often. Even if you can overlook these problems, Bullet Witch is short and shallow enough to grow stale quickly.Comment

Official Bullet Witch Impressions Thread
if I left it up to IGN.com and Gamespot. This game will be overlooked by many shooter fans.
First and foremost, the game doesn't suck. Its not up to par with alot of other games coming out. But its not all that bad.
I think one review said that the enemy A.I was stupid. He must've been playing it on easy. I'm on normal, and I've been at the boss on level 3 for 2 days now.
The game has alot of action, and to substitute some of the graphic details, the stages are huge. There is alot of graphics detail, but not too much background movement, making them seem bland. None the less, the explosions and background and object damage is nice.
Only A.I. ignorance in this game, is the innocents that run around the city like ******s and sneak around like they've been playing Sneak King every morning before the invasions.
Also the voice acting for some characters in the game, remind me of the first RE (what is this?) lol...other than that, its fun and challenging.
The controls are nice, and take a minute to get use to, after that. Its fun shooting and upgrading weapons.
Also its very frustrating at times, you will die alot. Thank goodness for unlimited continues. The spells and magic are remarkable. And some of the coolest things out there. Lots of blood and gross stuff, for those survival horror peeps. Some of the wierdest enemies, and sub-boss..like the innoncents to get mutated into monsters that look like their heads get turned into giant turnips with teeth, and when it spreads open its chest it blows fire.
The enemy soldiers are easy the first level, after that, prepare to die alot. Even snipers are accurate as hell, and will lay you down. First stage is easy to complete, second stage is a maze and will take a few to finish. Onto the third now, and it was a pain in the arse from the beginning. And final boss will kill you quick.
Alot of stages have no pattern, so each time you start over after a death, you need to try another way.
Gun battles are nice, explosions are good, and its quite fun. Not your average game. But in the end, it is what it is. Average...but definitely not bad...
Worth Renting. And you can purchase later if you want the achievements and future dl' content....
my verdict. 7.3 / 10 Decent Game, Worth a look. Just not for everyone.Last edited by Behindshadows; 03-05-2007, 08:30 PM.Comment

Re: Official Bullet Witch Impressions Thread
Despite the reviews I'm slightly interested in the game. I've probably played and enjoyed worse so when I can find it for a reasonable price I'll probably get it for the collection.Comment

my verdict. 7.3 / 10 Decent Game, Worth a look. Just not for everyone.
My buddy borrowed this from work, and when I fired it up, I really wasn't expecting much. The controls are spotty (really could have used a lock-on feature for shooting) and the textures on the graphics are really, really weak. The environments do seem "big" and overall, visuals really aren't bad at all. It doesn't use Havok, so no ragdoll physics, but the canned death animatioons are pretty cool and dramatic. Even when you save the townsfolk (who all have the worst AI in gaming history...uhhh why is that old lady wnadering around in circles in a demon-infested parkin lot) they have a nice "OMG I'm alive" animation. It's definitely bargain bin material but I will say there is one area where this game shines...emergent gameplay.
I had a area in a gas station where about 8-9 demons were hanging out. Mind you ol' bullet witch really can't take many bullets, so 8-9 demnos is a real threat. Obviously, the gist was to blow up the gas station they just happen to be milling around. After several unsuccesful attempts at storming the station and letting loose on the gas tanks (I'd get murked within seconds of rushing in) I used her "force push"-like spell (a form of telekenisis that allows you to push cars, trucks etc at enemies) to push a tanker towards the station. At first my goal was simply to use the 18-wheeler as mobile cover, getting it closer and closer to the fight. Then when i had pushed it a good distance into the gas station, I realized the trucks fuel tanks were exposed. I had died so many times assaulting this damn area, on a whim I opened up on the trucks tanks...and was treated to the biggest, coolest explosion I've ever seen in a video game, hands down. I had to backflip this chick out of harms way, burning debris was raining down all around me. That was too friggen' awesome. Me and my buddy both jumped up off the sofa like daaaaaaaaamnnnnn!!!!!. Those moments are why we play video games in the first place.
This game has some real shortcomings, and I wouldn't reccomend a purchase. Repetitive canned animations, weak textures, blah level design, plain bad AI.... but it does have a few really nice touches, and it's a pretty good gamefly candidate. Its got the "Ghost Rider" thing going on. If you go in with really low expectations, you'll be pleasantly surprised....Last edited by HMcCoy; 03-05-2007, 02:00 AM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

This game is much better than expected, after reading those horrible reviews online. Wait til you start throwing lightning bolts at tanks. And shooting out ceilings to collapse on the enemies.Comment

Re: Official Bullet Witch Impressions Thread
I agree completely with your review Shadows. I think what draws me in in this art style of this game - its just different from everything else on the 360 right now. Plus, I am having a blast with the magic spells (shooting lightning down on tanks is just plain awesome and I love sending Ravens down on people and they pluck away at them) and I think magic is much easier to use than the online reviews are saying. I wanted something different and did not have ridiulously high expectations for the game. I have been pleased.Comment

Re: Official Bullet Witch Impressions Thread
Just beat level 4, and my goodness I died alot trying. I must say the Tornado magic is just sick, the level of destruction it causes is crazy....especially when everything comes back down and crashes into the concrete and explodes....I'm trying my best to get all the achievements...but I haven't figured out how to get 1 secret achievement.
Maybe when I play back through on easy, it will give me thoughs...liking the game more than I'm hating it...Comment
