    Overlord

This is a game I have been following since last year, and it has a really cool concept.

    Some info on the game.

Overlord is a groundbreaking action adventure, set in a seriously warped fantasy world, launching for PC and as a console exclusive for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

Controlling a mysterious figure that has inherited the legacy of the evil, long-dead Overlord, the player emerges, near death, from the ruins of the old Overlord’s Dark Tower. Only the player’s actions will determine if they will rise to become the new all-powerful Overlord; it’s all down to how much of a bad *** they want to be in order to succeed...evil or really evil! Played out with plenty of black humour and dark irony, the game will immerse players in twisted parodies of classic fantasy scenarios and characters.

Overlord’s key innovation is the introduction of an array of impish creatures – the Minions. They believe you are the old Overlord reborn and will use their unique skills to fetch, fight and die for you. Throughout the game players will actively control a horde of these gremlin-like critters and they’ll follow your every instruction no matter how despotic or, for the Minions, life threatening it is.

New interview is up on IGN.

If you're one of the unruly mob rubbing their hands at the prospect of causing havoc then Overlord will be right up your street. Playing as the maniacal Dark Lord, you're the bad guy who tells goblins to go on a rampage and causes untold nastiness on innocent villagers. It's the polar opposite of most RPGs and is all the better for it.

Ahead of the game's summer release we offered our allegiance to executive producer Kevin Mullard, along with design lead and director Lennart Sas, to find out just how bad the game is going to be...

Saw this in a GI, looks interesting. I'm hoping for something funny along the lines of Armed and Dangerous.

      Overlord Hands-On

While we saw enough early promise in Overlord to award it our Best Surprise game of the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo, we hadn't been able to play any of the game so far. Now that we're tantalisingly close to the June release date, the publisher gave us a chance to show off our evil skills by giving us a hands-on with the game.

Sitting down with a prebeta copy of the Xbox 360 version, we're more than happy to report that it looks set to live up to our expectations. The game is infused with a tongue-in-cheek humour and distinctive visual style all of its own, and we certainly wanted to stay in its world longer than our brief introduction allowed.
      Overlord First Impressions

If you've played Nintendo's Pikmin games, this should all sound familiar. In fact, the two titles share a surprising number of gameplay similarities. In Pikmin, to overcome certain obstacles or pick up parts to repair your spaceship, you needed a certain number of Pikmin and the same is true in Overlord too. By gathering a group of Minions together, they can push objects out of the way, open gates by heaving huge levers and knock down things to create bridges.
