So what would people say is their favorite instrument, and which is the hardest?

So far the hardest is the drums, for me. I can't sing, and I don't count singing as an instrument, but it's pretty hard too.

My favorite is also the drums. I can play a handful of songs on expert, and it's new and fresh and way more fun than playing the guitar to me.

I really like the drums, I want to at least become a decent Hard player. Right now I can only play songs like Say It Ain't So and Gimme Shelter on Hard. That's only after 2-3 hours of practicing, though. If I could only get the bass pedal down...

Is it worth getting this game just for the guitar section? Guitar hero III is a little frustrating for me at the higher difficulty levels. I can pick up the game by itself for cheap.

I guess is the guitar portion of Rock Band comparable as a whole to Guitar Hero (as in things to do, songs to play, overall fun)?

Rock Band is more fun on the guitar. I haven't even looked at the GH games since I bought Rock Band.

me too, but that's partly because they totally effed up the charts for gh3. also I've always though the jump from medium to hard is too much.

I like the drums. I suck at guitar. I can sing on expert though but not my favorite. On drums I can do the harder songs on hard and the easier ones on expert.

Rock Band is more fun on the guitar. I haven't even looked at the GH games since I bought Rock Band.

I agree Rock Band is more fun, but GH is more challenging as far as guitar goes.

Depends. I honestly didn't find GH 3 all that challenging at all - I only ever failed one song in the career mode.

Rock Band I find the same, I've only failed that Green Grass song so far, but I haven't played it again because I hated the song.

I really didn't find GH 3 more challenging at all. I found it to be pretty easy.

I really didn't find GH 3 more challenging at all. I found it to be pretty easy.

GHIII was the first one that I ever purchased, so having only limited experience with GH prior to that (3 songs total), I found it pretty difficult. A lot of it was changing my mindset from playing a real instrument with chords, to having to match colors instead of tone.

When Rock Band came out though, I breezed through it with almost no problems. I attribute some of that to having experience with GH, but most of it was because they seemed to be easier combinations.

I've heard people who lean both ways on it, but for me GH was much more difficult. I still can't complete GH on Expert, but I've beaten every song on Rock Band.

I disagree. I mean, I like Rock Band, but whenever I play it, I always end up going back to GH. I've never been able to put my finger on why I find GH more fun, but it just is. Rockband is also much easier than Guitar Hero.

I like GH better as well. Rock Band has some great songs and the drums are fun, but playing guitar is the most fun for me and GH just does it better IMO. It's probably just the Rock Band guitar that I dislike so much compared to the GH one. You 360 people are lucky that you can use the GH guitar on Rock Band. Hopefully the Nyko universal guitar will ship next week like it is suppose to and it will feel more like the GH one than the Rock Band guitar.
