Re: How many people here preorder?

The last game I pre-ordered before NCAA '02 a couple years ago was Zelda: OOT. I figured the gold cartridge would be a collector's item one day. I pre-ordered NCAA because it was the first one on PS2.

All of the games I have now I didn't plan on getting on the day they were released so there was no need to pre-order. I will, though, if there is a game that I want to get around the release date and I get a discount off the total price for pre-ordering.

I don't see much need to preorder anything at a brick and mortar store. I don't play the game of "get your name on a list and you can guarantee yourself a game from the first shipment", then having to wait for them to call you so you can go pick it up.

It is easier for me to just preorder from EB online a few days before the game comes out and have it shipped to me overnight. It ends up costing a few dollars more than buying it at the store with sales tax figured in, but it is well worth it to me to have the game put in my hand at work and not have to do anything. A good portion of the price difference is actually wasted on gas driving to get the game at the store, to get technical, so it ends up being a wash.

Well I live in a moderately sized town with only one specialty store for games. Yes we have our Best Buy's, etc., but you know as well as I that they don't always have the games available on the release day.

To preorder a game you only have to put $5 down. The money goes to the game and is refundable if you change your mind so it's not like. I am friends with most of the guys at the store and when I preorder games the employee who enters them is given credit for the preorder. These guys and their stores are judged by the amount of subscriptions, multiple sales and preorders. Of course what comes around goes around. The Manager was kind enough to give me a free copy of Acclaims ATV 2 game that they got as a store copy.

I don't buy online because it does cost a bit more and there is nothing like a hot pretzel with mustard at the mall.

Re: How many people here preorder?

I pre-order for convinience. There have been times when Igot to the game store and all the regular copies were gone. Seeing is I have to work and cannot get to the store until 6 at the earliest I like to guarantee a copy.

It is not like it is a hard process, just drop $5 on each game you want and then they are waiting for you on release.

I also do a lot of trade-ins and put the money towards pre-orders, same with returns

                          Current pre-order list

                          HH(XBOX) - paid in full
                          EQOA(PS2) - paid in full
Capcom vs. Snk (XBox) - paid in full
                          PSO(XBox) - paid in full
                          WSB(XBox) - $20 down
                          GBA SP - $50 down
                          Golden Sun 2 - $5 down
