From what I have seen that's pretty much the way it it goes. I like this game but for some reason I just can't get back into it, I am not knocking it at all but I just liked Oblivion a lot more than Fallout.
I am not going to give up on it just yet but for now I just have too many other games that are grabbing my attention.

Kinda...when you can do all the non-story stuff how it works is you stumble on someone (in a town, sewer, wherever) and when talking to them they may have a problem or something for you to possibly take care of. I found the quests to be more enjoyable than just "get quest, fetch item, return item", they usually ended up being a bit more complex/longer than that.

Does anyone know if you can get back into Raven Rock after you leave?

I usually just have the Lincoln Repeater, Ol' Painless, the unique Chinese assault rifle (Xiao Lin or something like that), SMG, and a dart gun.

I carry around a ton of diverse small arms ammo because it doesn't weigh anything. The dart gun is just in case I run into a Deathclaw or something that gets the jump on me.

I agree. You can literally just spent hours exploring and picking up items. I had a blast just taking off in a certain direction and seeing what would be ahead. Well, that's until I saw my first Deathclaw when I was a level 8...lol.

I'm excited to start my second play-through as a totally evil guy.

Has anyone done the Head of State sidemission yet? The people aren't showing up at the Lincoln Memorial to finish the mission. It's like it's glitched up or something, as the game places the quest marker at a nearby metro, and they aren't there either..

                  very annoying.

Just hit the 50 hour mark. All I can say is WOW!!!! Finally about 1/2 way through exploring everything and about 3/4 done with the main quest. Hope to have it finished by the end of next week when the new DLC hits.

Thought the same thing at first, but it just takes them a few days to get there.

Had this game since launch and am just starting to get into it now. I am enjoying the combat, especially after you start picking up some decent weapons and loads of ammo. Making my way to the Capital, a bit annoyed that you constantly have to use the subways to get to locations - instead of just free roaming everywhere like in Oblivion.

I can see using the teleport almost exclusively when I revisit places.

so is 20 the highest level you can get to? I'm a hair away from 19 and still haven't got around to 10 of the bobbleheads. Some of them include the 10 point ones. I'd be wasting them if I just got them when I was already maxed out.

I've only found three bobbleheads...though I'm sure I just didn't see them on tables when I was doing some quests.

well there's 20 total. All but 3 can be picked up at any time. Like if you blow up megaton, the bobble head inside lucas simms house is gone forever. Some of them give 10 points to certain skills, so if you plan it out, it can save you wasting points you get when you level up.

I have 5 bobbleheads left: the ones in vaults 106 and 108, the one in the national guard depot, the one at Evergreen mills and the one in the dunwich building. They just take time to find.
