I am on the fence somewhere in between both of those lines. I think they knew the story and knew that they wanted to try and get casual gamers into it and then built a game that filled both of those.

Do you not like the "Mark and Execute" feature? Even as a fan of the old Splinter Cell games, I absolutely love it. Nothing more rewarding to me than going one-on-five with my Five-seveN (four marks)...marking four of them, climbing up a pipe and dropping down on the fifth and then going straight into a relatively seamless execution of the other four guys. It's a great feeling and awesome to watch.

I would love for them to build off this engine, personally, and re-add the specific stealth aspects - like the need to pick locks, hack a computer here or there, the ability to pick up objects and use those as distractions, hiding bodies, etc.

I think the current gameplay is simple enough that now they can put those back in and the fans they picked up with this one will be able to transition seamlessly without much of a learning curve.
After playing the first 2 levels, I'm loving the M&E. You can still climb pipes and go around stealthily, it's not like you M&E everyone easily. You have to earn that right.

I do miss some of the classic Splinter Cell stuff, but like you said they can use this to add in more features in future games.

This is just a different direction. I'd never really felt like a spy badass in a game before, but this allows you to feel epic rather than being about crouching and waiting 5 minutes for a time to do something.

I really do hope they add in some classic aspects, but this is awesome to play and that's what counts.

[QUOTE=Mercurial23;2040971564]Well, duh. Cause it's SC and this hasn't been SC "esque."

Don't get me wrong...having a good time with it and see myself playing it for some time, but they really did throw most of the SC stuff out the window for this game. It is nothing like the past games. You could easily just run through this game and not take any tactical approach that was required in past games and still beat this game. That would never work in past SC's. [/quoite]
And you could also take a tactical approach if you want. The game doesn't keep you from using whatever strategy you want to use, it just lets you do other things.

I'm glad I didn't bite the bullet it and buy. I fought the urge! If It's not shipped to me soon, I'm going to have Gamefly send me Madden (I'm itching for football) and pick it up a few weeks later.

I LOVED the game even though it was pretty short. Still have to go through the Co-op stuff and I'm playing through single player again.

Made me want to play the old ones again so....
                      I picked up
                      Splinter Cell
                      Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow
                      Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
                      and
                      Splinter Cell Double Agent

Think all together it was like 26 bux or something like that....

Hunter mode I've found more enjoyable than story for some reason.

My rental is up tonight and i think through the week I've got my fill and am satisfied.

Oh Multi-player was a blast. Don't get me wrong. Hunter mode was fantastic.

I just didn't care for the story. For me the gameplay had a hard time identifying what it wanted to be. For some of it it wanted you to be old school splinter cell, but to me towards the end it seemed like they wanted you to play more "gears of war" style and ditch the infiltration.

They may have wanted the exact opposite of that, but that's just how it felt to me, and I didn't enjoy the "switch" in styles.

                          Hence the "B-".

                            I don't understand the complaining.

There are Four Old SC games that followed pretty much the same blueprint.

And you guys are complaining about them making a streamlined, predator, revenge super bad *** version??

I miss the old Spy vs Mercs multiplayer, but everything else in this game is great.

The single player alone, is not worth 60 bucks tho.

In all honesty 98% of games nowadays isn't worth $60. Of all the games I bought last year and this year....only a few took me over 15 hours to beat.

                              1. Mass Effect 2
                              2. Dragon Age
                              3. Assassin's Creed 2
                              4. Batman Arkham Asylum

Really I get more value out of my sports games then any other games. Long gone are the days when games had 20 levels or more in it. Now you are lucky if you get 8 levels.

They spend way too much time on the online part of the game and charging money for download content that should have been in the game from the beginning.
