I'm curious if anyone else out there is because I was searching around and there seems to be a huge community that can get very detailed and pretty deep into the whole simulation process dealing with flight plans, ATC's, communication and 'virtual airlines'.

Re: Flight Simulators
I am into IL-2, FS X, Falcon, and Lock-On. IL-2 is probobly the best one out with tons of mods and expansions. -
Re: Flight Simulators
I have FSX and play some. The online play isn't very good from what I've seen. I've got a couple of buddies who are airline pilots, and we all like to hook up online and do some precision formation flying. Its next to impossible to do in FSX because the other players' planes warp around on the screen so much.
We had been playing alot of IL-2 Pacific Fighters and then IL-2 1946 came out, and we started playing that. rasputin's right, the IL-2 games are awesome. The netcode is pretty good too, no lag whatsoever.Comment

Unless you have a super computer, don't get Flight Sim X because the frame rate will chug even with everything set pretty low.Comment

I have 2GB of RAM as well but still had turn things down. Flight Sim 2004 looks better played in Ultra on my system (and has a better frame rate to boot).Comment

IL-2 is my favorite as far as combat flight sims go. The dog fights onlie rank as some of my favorite moments in gaming.Comment

I love IL-2...love doing the Stuka campaign. I can hit the head of a pin with the Stuka that thing is so accurate in a dive!Comment

Re: Flight Simulators
Have you played the new 1946 expansion? They've got some experimental and "what-if" planes in there that are fun to try to fly.Comment

Re: Flight Simulators
IL-2 is actaully not very resource intensive. It will run on mid-range PCs with all the goodies turned on, and lower end PCs with stuff turned off.Comment

Re: Flight Simulators
I miss how the flight sims for PC used to come out in the 90s. EF2000, The Falcon games, The Janes games, F-22. Guess the Genre died out.http://twitter.com/sageinfinite

Re: Flight Simulators
Ya I used to play Falcon...and A-10 Warthog...and even a few helicopter sims. Wasn't much to look at back then but it was fun.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment
