Man, this is a toughie. I got my first PS1 back in the winter of '96, when I was a senior in high school. Now I have got a house and a family. Yikes.

Here goes...

1) Goldeneye (N64) - Game cost me at least a point on my GPA at VT.

2) Halo 2 (XBox) - The true value of this game came out when my best friend was put into a wheelchair for about 3 months. He was out of work for the duration, so all he could do was read, watch TV, and play XBox. Man, we played more deathmatches and campaigns than I care to remember.

3) NFL 2k5 (XBox) - Best. Football. Game. Ever.

4) MLB The Show 06 (PS2) - I believe I spent more time messing with rosters than I did playing the game. But damn if I didn't enjoy every minute of it.

5) NHL '97 (PS1) - The first Playstation generation game that I ever played at length. Man, I thought the graphics were mindblowing back then. Plus, when you are a senior in high school and you think that your then girlfriend may be pregnant (she wasn't), what are you going to do? Play video game hockey.

Well after a hard night of thinking and analyzing, I think I've arrived at my list. Now they aren't the most fun for EVERYONE, but they are probably the ones I had the most fun with!

1. Metal Gear Solid (PSone) - I absolutely LOVED this game, start to finish. I wasn't all that interested during the E3 hype, but I was going through the mall, saw the HUGE crowd in EB buying this game on release, said "what the hell", and have never looked back. Kojima is a video game GOD!

2. Super Mario 64 (N64...duh!) - what else can be said about this game...the first and still one of the greatest 3D platformers w/ analog control, and collecting those stars were difficult as hell! "So long, big bouncy"

3. Guitar Hero (PS2) - this one had me at hello! Saw the kiosk nearby the pallet full of the game, and after just trying it ONCE, walked out a proud owner. I've since worked up to Expert, and even my wife and son get in on the action, and my son's only THREE!

4. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2) - gets the nod over 'San Andreas' due to the great Ray Liotta voice work, but this was a very time consuming free roamer that never got old!

5. NFL Gameday '98 (PSone) - my buddies and I played the crap out of this game, one of (if not THE) first football games with 3D graphics. I remember the Broncos were only so-so, but running them to the Super Bowl (which they one against the Packers that year) was great...even if Terrell Davis sucked ***! It was also bittersweet as that was one of the last games my high school friends and I played over before going our seperate ways.



Sounds like we need a huge battle royale poll series to see which game OS'ers think is the greatest, or most fun, or most influential, etc. Where can you make a bracket?

EDIT: Big time uber honorable mention to 'Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter'. I only got online with the 360, and when that game came out, I had so much fun in full OS rooms, and that game stayed in my disc tray at least once a week until the sequel came out. An extremely fun game with the right people (no randoms or spawn killers...must play tactically), and as such it's a close sixth, if not a top fiver.

Hmm..this is really tough as there are several games from the past that have been incredible. Buuuut, if I had to pick based on how addicting they were at the time I played them, the list would would be:

Lots of good games listed...

Another to add is RTCW (Wolfenstein on Xbox). There have been great multiplayer games since, but here on OS we has RTCW alive for a while. With the different player types (Medic, sniper, heavy gunner, etc) and the great modes (get the documents, assault, etc) it was the first completely addictive Xbox Live experience for me.

In no paticular order

1) Resident Evil 4 played throught about 5 times in the last 3 years
2) Guitar Hero 1 & 2 never gets old
3) God of War 1 & 2
4) Mvp baseball '05 only baseball game i've actually completed an entire season
5) Oblivion Xbox 360....one of the few rpgs ive ever completed

Honorable mention: Gears of war, shadow of the colossus, Rainbow six vegas, college hoops 2k7(xbox 360)
