Need help with Guitar Hero PS2 saves

Hey, I'm having a problem with Guitar Hero and was wondering if I'm just missing something. I played on easy first and finished the first 25 songs. I had some that were 3 and 4 stars, so I started going back through them and 5 starred all but 2. They all showed 5 stars, but after I hit continue and then went back and shut the game down, the next time I went to play, the songs were back to where they were before I 5 starred them. That is seriously irritating because I spent a while doing that. Is my memory card having issues or is there something I'm not doing right in saving? Thanks a lot.

Yep......known issue. The game doesn't autosave career scores unless it's: a) completing a song for the first time or b) an increase in your current recorded rating (3 star to 4, 4 star to 5). Obviously, that's a problem after you've 5*'d a song and still improved on your score, but there's a way around it. The autosave kicks in for a number of other things, such as changing your guitar or character. If you do either of those after a session (or a song if you know you've totally blown up an old score) at that point the career mode progress you've made (improved scores as well) will be saved. You could also back out to the main menu - options - game data and save it manually.

I'm pretty sure this was fixed in GH2.

[edit]Wait a minute, I just reread.....you're saying the stars didn't save? That's odd. Quick play or Career? In any case, the guitar changing thing still applies, and will save any progress you've made.

[edit #2]Okay, now I see.....it only saves immediately after songs in career mode when you earn money. So bonus songs are also going to get the shaft on this, since you don't earn anything for them. I just 5*'d Even Rats to see this for myself.

What was happening was that say I had 4 stars on Ace of Spades. I went back last night and 5 *'d it, but when I went back in to play today, it was back to 4 stars. I'll do what you said and save manually or change something else and save, and see if that works. This was in career.

Yeah, that's definitely unusual, like autosave might be turned off or something. Because I just 5*'d one of my last remaining Hard songs for the first time (Crossroads) and got the save screen immediately after hitting continue.

Okay, I have to be a little more expressive than that.....OMGZ I JUST 5-STARRED CROSSROADS!!!1111

Better? I've been trying to 5* that one for a LONG time...all that remains on Hard now are the Face-Melters - specifically Flood, Frankie, Cowboys from Hell (only a 3 there....) and Bark at the Moon. I've beaten the game on Expert, but 5-starring everything is still an eventual goal of mine.

LOL. I think it will be years before I even beat a song on hard. I just started Medium and it's killing me. I got through the first couple of songs, but only at 3 stars and it was really difficult.
