What PS2 games are you playing?

What PS2 games are you playing on your PS3? Since the PS3 upconverts their resolution, and with the new "smoothing" thing, PS2 games look pretty good. Just curious what you all have played?

I'm still not sure what I want to play. I have God of War, and a few others, but further than that, not sure what I want to get.

Unfortunately, I played God of War 2 before the update. I think I'm going to break out Metal Gear Solid 2, I only played through it once as opposed to the first MGS which I played through at least 6 or 7 times.

I was thinking about Metal Gear Subsistence, since I hadn't played it. Or Substance.. can't remember what it's called. let me know how it looks on the PS3 now. I've become a graphics whore now I guess, lol.

I dont have a ps3 but I still play both God of Wars and Resident Evil 4 quite a bit, even with the 360 right next to it.

Currently Xenosaga Ep. 1 on a second playthrough, but playing on an SDTV, there really isn't a lot of graphical difference even with the smoothing. The framerates seem a little better, but that's about it.

It makes a really big difference for PS1 games (sorta like the texture smoothing option from the PS2), but for PS2 in SD, it's not much. It's certainly not diminishing my enjoyment though - I'm up to the KOS-MOS Encephalon dive part, easily my favorite arc of the first game and probably 2nd best in the whole series. The stuff that happens in this part foreshadows some of the biggest moments in Ep. 3, and I've already picked up on a few plotline hints that I simply would not have noticed the first time.

I still play a bunch of my PS2 games on my PS3 such as WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007, Gallop Racer 2006, Gun, FIFA 07, Winning Eleven Pro Evolution 2007, Star Wars Battlefront 2, MVP NCAA Baseball 07. I also plan on buying Rugby 08 when it comes out next month. The smart thing Sony did was not give up on the PS2 like Microsoft did with the original X-Box.

How the hell is it smart? No, seriously.

Stopping games for the Xbox effectively made gamers upgrade to get an Xbox 360 if they wanted the newest games, and it was moderately priced. PS2 is still being supported and as long as it's supported, the PS3 will be crippled... and it will lag behind the PS2 in total sales. When you launch new hardware, you want people to want to buy that... but why buy it when there are still games for the old hardware and it's cheaper?

It's STUPID for Sony to support the PS2 because they are effectively taking money out of their own hands.

I actually don't have a PS3 but still play a lot of PS2 games despite owning a 360.

I would never get rid of my PS2. 2nd best console ever.

Well my PS3 is just a more expensive PS2 at this point (and a fine Blu-ray player )...

Anyway, I'm currently playing 'Dragon Quest VIII' and notice no difference when upscaling. I beat 'Final Fantasy XII' playing the whole time w/o upscaling and it looked fine, though one of the earlier updates improved the graphics (I think it was 1.5, not sure...check 1up.com). I also beat 'Kingdom Hearts II' fully on my PS3.

After DQVIII, I'm tackling 'God of War II' (after I beat the first game again...even with the Hades Blades from HELL), and then I'll tackle another RPG, 'Rogue Galaxy'.

Oh, and I also ran completely through 'Bully' on my PS3, which is an AMAZING game! Spud shooters, bottle rockets, and itching powder are GREAT weapons!

Unless you want Blu-ray, which I do, and I also knew I'd upgrade eventually once FFXIII and MGS4 came out.

I'm also happy with my PS3 since 'Drakes Fortune' and the new Ratchet look absolutely AMAZING! Christmas should be a fine time for PS3 exclusives!

It makes the game look SO much prettier and with the PS3 there's little if any frame drop! I think it can be changed later on too, but I know it can be changed at the start.

Come to think of it, I wonder how the PS2 GTA games run on the PS3. That stupid blur effect was always what made those games look worse than they should (and kept it from being choppy), but it shouldn't be necessary on the PS3...

I've never used the blur filter, it gives me a headache.

The same goes for the PS3 "smoothing" option in the upscaling menu. I think it oversoftens the edges causing some lost detail.
