Need help from EB/Gamestop employees.

I went to EB on Sunday, June 17 and traded in 3 PS3 games.

Now I have All-Pro Football 2K8, paid in full, on reserve. I also have Madden 08 and NCAA 08 reserved with $5 on each. When I traded in the 3 games I got the extra 10% because of the little EB card and put all $34(for 3 games) toward Madden and thought nothing of it.

Monday night I go online and see EB is having a sale trade 2 PS3 games in get one new game free. On Wednesday I go back to EB talking to the clerk and he confirms that the sale started on Sunday but he could do nothing because it was not done at the time, and calls his manager who simply tells me we can not manipulate trades after they are done. So I asked the clerk why should I lose out on this deal simply because the salesman on Sunday did not tell me about it. The salesman who helped me on Sunday was in the corner and yells I cant tell you what I dont know sir. At this point I pretty mad and ask to talk with the manager in person. I was told she doesn't work again until Friday. So I call on Friday, talk with her tell her the story and in one sentence she replies the sale did not start until Monday 6-18 and I cant help you. She did not know but I called all other EB/Gamestop in my area and asked when the sale started and they ALL said Sunday 6-17. When I told her this she said I can not be responsible for other stores starting the sale early. So today 6-23 I called the 1-800 number and spoke with someone who confrimed that the sale did in fact start Sunday, but I would have to contact the district manager for assistance. So I did and have not recieved a call back. What else can I do? I think I will also call the BBB on EB/Gamestop, and my new goal is to get the manager fired(wont happen I know). thanks in advance.

No offense, but you traded in 3 PS3 games and only got $34 thats just crazy. You could have pawned them and got more money.

Secondly Gamestop and EB Games think they are the only companies around that will take used games.

Next Time Try Blockbuster or Movie Trading Company you'll get more money and still get the games when they come out.

No sense in arguing with the store clerks or customer service. Once a trade in is done, its done. No way of fixing the inventory, once your transaction is processed.

Just suck it up, that you got ripped off, and move on.

Also start reserving your games at Circuit City or Best Buy. They give away better free stuff, especially Circuit City....

I did use to work for their corporate office back in the day. And trust me, its a no win situation.

You go better chances at winning the lottery, the DM can call you back and as much as he can do, is some how give you like a 5 dollar credit or something, if that.

I own my company. And we don't treat our customers like this. Thats why our clients are larger. LOL....

I just know, how their policies work, and I also know how much I've disagreed with them for so many years. I worked for EB / Gamestop (same company) for 4 1/2 years. And trust me, unless they got some kind of exclusive accessory, or some cheap old xbox and ps2 games. I won't buy much from them anymore.

I am sorry for my statement, it was out of line. I am glad to hear you have learned how NOT to treat people. What REALLY is making me mad about this is that I REALLY liked this store I go there atleast once a week, I like the employees, I even recommend this store to my friends and co-workers.

no problem.

but no one blames you for trusting them. they weren't always a bad company.

when they started buying out all the competition (funcoland, babbages, etc)

they got bigheaded, and start creating many policies that were bad for customers and great for them. their company makes great profits, but at our extent. and now the customers are always wrong, no matter what.

remember back in the day, the customer was always right, and we were helped the best we could be. now everyone who works for that company is like a corporate programmed robot ( we-can-not-help-you *beep-beep*, our-policy-says-*beep-beep*)

its no longer about you, its about the company and their policies. and no one wants to get fired. who knew you could create a company, buy out everyone, pay your employees chump change, and then program them to disrespect, even their best friends.

thats corporate america...lol....

but seriously guy, don't stress yourself about it. we all make mistakes when getting rid of old game, rather it be EB or Ebay...sometimes you do get a bad deal. don't take it out on the employees though, they are telling what they are coached to tell you. doing their jobs, so to put!!!

just remember you are 1 in a billion customers they already have. so don't expect much in return.

If it were the same day, I think they could have voided your transaction and did the trade-ins again. Before I go trade a game in, I always go to EB's website and check the trade in values page. It has a listing of all the promotions that are going on at the stores.

yeah also, if they ask for your email address during a purchase...they usually email you about promotions in advance.

forgot about that. plus online gives you coupons and bonuses that aren't in store.

Still that's pretty raw, Lions. I would have traded them in a Blockbusters or sold them on ebay.

They were Madden, NBA and College Hoops 2K7. I have never used ebay. Lesson learned.

Meh, I don't think 34 bucks from GS for those trades is that bad. Glancing at ebay, maybe you could get 15 to 20 for madden, same for ch2k7, and about half that for nba. Maybe you lost out on 10 to 15 bucks, but you got to enjoy the gamestop experience Suck it up and move on.

Always check the deals before you trade and never trade at GS without a deal.

THat promotion doesnt include the older sports titles so thats why the deal didn't go through. They should have a flyer right on the couter that explains what games are excluded. Why they didn't know their own sale I have no idea but thats the deal..No older sports titles for the 2 for 1 sale.
