Well, you can offically chalk this one up to the droves of cheap idiots who used EB as a substitute for their local rental store.

I could never bring myself to do the trade-in deal. Especially not if I intentionally did it.

Oh. Wait - NBA Live 2002 for the PS2. I didn't feel I was abusing it, since it was withing 30 minutes after I left the store.

I personally use half.com as my substitute for a rental store. But the game (keep it in good condition), sell it if it's not a keeper. Take a 8-10 doillar loss on the whole transaction.

i am glad this is happening, because stores were selling these games back as new instead of preowned( a no-no, i don't want to think about where the game has been), and probably were going to get some flack from some consumer groups because of it.

just talked to my local eb tonight.. rhe rumor is true - however if you are a good customer, then you have nothing to worry about.

they are just changing their policy to stop random people off the street from doing it. It also did not start today and from what I was told, no date has yet been set.

Well, I'm a good customer, don't do the "rent thing". But I don't think they can offer two different return policies to different "good" and "bad" customers. Might be considered discrimination.

I used to drive an extra 10 minutes to go to EB because of the return policy. I guess now I'll just be going down the street to CompUSA. This really blows.

I don't think so - if people that work at places know you, you can get extra stuff all the time. I had to get my break rotors replaced for example - which is not covered under warranty - well my dealer "made it under warranty" just to give me the extra service so I would buy my next car there.

Does this mean they have to give free breaks to everyone? Nope....
