-Advent Rising
-Bloodrayne
Maybe not system sellers, but three franchises with potential. Advent Rising's Orson Scott Card written storyline could have been huge over 3 games considering they were already using Unreal2 and would likely have transitioned to Unreal3. Psychonauts was also a critical smash that could have been great on next-gen. However, according to EGM, Majesco has scrapped all development outside of casual-aimed Wii and DS games like their current hit Cooking Mama.
Maybe you look at those three games and chuckle. Who really cares? After all it's a business right? But this is the way gaming is going, kids. If traditional non-gamers become the majority videogame consumers, 3 years from now gaming could go the way of television...a handful of quality narratives, a ton of cookie-cutter crime shows, wrapped in a fat layer of brainless reality-TV and fluff. If this trend continues, and the masses keep supporting cheap and easy fun...how long before more companies like Majesco stop taking risks on envelop-pushing big budget content and focus on lucrative but shallow titles?
Never happen? Lol...it's already happening. Psychonauts, Advent Rising, Bloodrayne, and oh yea, they were also publishing a game based on the DeNiro classic 'Taxi Driver', which also got whacked so they could and I quote "focus primarily on publishing value and handheld video games"...
