Re: Rage (iD Software's new FPS using their Tech-5 Engine)

I'm not trying to resurrect what seems to be a dead topic, but now that Amazon (among other places) has Rage for $30, do people have the same opinion that this game is now worth the price tag?

I'm thinking about picking it up for this price, but after re-reading some of the comments on this forum, I felt it would be a better idea to get an updated consensus from those who have played the game.

Any additional thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

its a good game. solid FPS with great graphics...but the story is kinda bland. u just feel like a "no-name fetcher"...but the solid shooting mechanics and smart agile enemies and weapon building and special ammos for all guns make up for the story's shortcomings. ive had it since launch but just finished it a few days ago.

i played it on hard out the gate and it took me around 15hrs to finish the main story, play 40% of the races and do 60% of job board quest. i didnt do the "sewer missions" tho. i believe theres like 4-6 of them spread out in the wasteland but i didnt go looking for them. then theres 6-9 coop missions and the online mp races. i didnt find the mp that great, but its something u can just play around with. i do plan to do the coop with a friend and then im trading it in. i dont feel ripped off for $60...so u def wont for $30. its a no brainer at that price and when ur done, take it back and trade in.

Been playing this recently and the shooting is so good. Unsurprising considering it's id, but they still deliver a feeling to the shooting that only a select few can touch. It makes it that much more of a disappointment that there's no classic deathmatch. These weapons and gadgets as pickups in Quake-style arenas would have be awesome.

Finally got the chance to play this demo. The A.I. and graphics in this game are top notch imo. Driving was obviously an afterthought. Been curious about this one. Has potential.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

After seeing Fury Road this weekend I've been thinking about going back to this at some point. Got about 2 hours into it a few years ago but put it down and never came back. I know lots of people complained about the ending, but I remember the gunplay being great.

Have you played Wolfenstein New Order? Just wondering how this compares to that...I'm playing through some Game Pass games and trying them out and pondering picking this or Wolfenstein to play through...

I’ve played and completed TNO and TOB. Have yet to purchase/try TNC. It has gore like a Wolfenstein game but I moved back over to the Fallout line because of the racing stuff and what I read about the car aspect being pretty heavy in this game.
