    Looking for a Strategy Game...

    Heh all,

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a game that would be a hybrid between Sim City & Civilization 4. I want to play something with a lot of the Civ type features but on a smaller scale and one that the society build up over time. I like the closeness of Sim City in that you are right at the level of designing your city but I wish you could start at an earlier time in history and work your way up on that smaller scale.

Maybe there isn't a game that is like this but something close.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Well, the total war series has civ turn based gameplay and real time strategy as well, you might like that. The newest in the series is Medieval 2 Total War, although Rome was very good too.

The only game that gives Civilization a run for it's money and in some cases beats it is Galactic Civilization II with the Dark Avatar expansion pack. It's not as pretty as Civ 4 but the AI is the show as they tend to be very cunning and make human like decisions and errors.

Can't go wrong w/ either. Loved both.

I'm enjoying Supreme Commander right now, but that's a RTS.

Thanks for the responses. I am way more of a turn-based guy. I just can't keep track of all the units and keybaord shortcuts due to the limited time I have to play of the RTS. Even though I get the itch to play them once in a while. Even though i know Sim City is Real Time it's not so fast plus you can pause and do things.

Maybe I try and download one of the Total War Games. What about this Settlers game coming out ?

            Thanks again.

I downloaded the demo for Galactic Civilizations and I just couldn't get into it. Thanks for the suggestion though.

MTW with the Lands to Conquer MOD is what I play. Outstanding game. LTC MOD even has 3 new mini campaigns in which are great.

The battles are fun to watch and command...but sometimes I can go whole campaigns with just simming them since there are so many other factors.
