Bioshock video glitch - only look if you want to know about it

    WARNING!
Do not read unless you REALLY WANT TO KNOW what is going on with this. If you havent noticed anything strange with the game....then go play and forget about this thread!

Ok, reading up on what is happening with this glitch and it seems to be a bigger issue than previously thought...here is what is happening.

Now what people seem to be complaining about is that with the widescreen setup, you are too zoomed in, which causes nausea and looks weird. In other words the field of view, or FOV, is not set correctly. This is affecting both 360 and pc widescreen displays.

No word yet from 2k on this.

That's pretty crappy, Eddie! I'm getting this eventually (kinda busy this week, might wait a month or two when I can find it used/have more time). Not a gamekiller, but disappointing. Well, if nausea is widespread, it could be more of a gamekiller (if it's that bad)

So is the demo the same view as the final release? If so, it is ok. If the final release is more zoomed in than the demo, this could be a huge issue.

i havent seen an answer on whether this is just the demo and full game or just the demo. Guess we will find out soon enough.

How could they miss this on the final build?

If it is in there, hopefully it is patched. Although none of the reviews picked up this problem? At least none which I read.

I don't understand the whole warning don't read this stuff. Why wouldn't you want to have all the info on the game, bad and good, before buying? I can understand you don't want the pointless and juvenile arguing going on at the 2k boards here, but I'd think everyone should know this before buying. Most will say so what I'd think.

What really is disappointing about this is that the developers said widescreen would be true widescreen, not faked like it is.

I'll still be at least renting if not buying, not a huge deal, but disappointing.

the reason is simply because if it isnt affecting you ( basically not seeing any issue), and you read about it, it will now become a problem to most people. thats why.

its the same thing with the bugs and glitches threads and why we have them. Yes there are a good majority of people that might never know about a certain bug, until they read up on it; it then picks at them knowing the issue is there, without ever seeing it.

as far as 2k, its been a few hours on day one. I say give them some time to investigate and see what they come up with.

Seems to me everyone with a widescreen should know about this before buying with the caveat 2k knows and is 'looking into it.'

I'll shut my mouth and move on.

again, notice the previous bioshock thread. not one person who played the demo noticed anything, or mentioned it. the ws oddity is in the demo. Everyone assumes its in the regular game as well. However, a bunch of us here played the demo, and not ONE person came back saying something was wrong.

so why even bother worrying about something that wanst bothering you to begin with? I am a part of the staff, and with that comes the responsibility to give the users this info; same reason i need to peruse the bugs and glitches thread in the other forums, even though i dont want to. Its a part of the job, and i am ok with that.

That said, i dont want to ruin it for someone who has no issue with it so far; hence the warnings.

I completely agree. I didn't notice anything and neither did anyone else. It did make my wife very motion sick though, lol.

I am still getting it. If they patch the issue great, but if they don't, It won't bother me one bit.

The point is that everyone played this demo and there were no complaints at all about the camera and the FOV. Now there is mass hysteria on the 2k boards because it appears that widescreen users are getting ripped off.

Honestly, I couldn't tell anything was wrong.

Maybe they will patch it, but I personally like BioShock's limited FOV. It clearly was the designers intention too. They selected a specific FOV for a reason and wanted to maintain this regardless of aspect ratio.

That's crazy. Is there a chance this was done on purpose?

it might have been. Giving you a sense of claustrophobia? But some have shown the lead develoepr saying ceertain things that would happen and not happen in widescreen mode..

in any case, the mods over at 2k forums said they are now looking into it
