man I love the tank. If I can't get in one right away I run around the spawn area until one pops up.
I like to play the variety servers - I get tired of playing the same type of game over and over. Unfortunately, most other people do too, so it's often hard to find an open one.

Now that I finally got sarge, I'm back to just doing whatever I feel like in the games - some air, but mostly ground.

I don't use the tank too much - I find that I'm just a target for grenades, rocket launchers and, heck, even missile turrets. I just prefer to zip around the map on a jeep and use the ground weapons. The semi-auto-aim makes it really easy to fight on foot.

Just what I'm calling the aiming system for no particular reason - it sort of locks on to your target after you find them and start shooting. Makes it really hard to miss with weapons like the pistol and AR, although the Flamethrower and some other weapons don't get that lock-on (nor do they need it).

Also, about the lock-on: It only aims for center mass. If you want headshots, you still have to aim higher. And if you do aim high, you'll probably win with everything else being equal (guns, health, terrain etc.)

I tried this game last night (with randoms) and I have to say that I wasn't feeling it at all. I forget which map I was on, but the controls felt sluggish and the action felt very blah compared to, say, the COD4 beta I've been playing. Granted it's a different play style, but I just wasn't feeling the game in the least. Can anyone recommend some settings, map choices, etc to use when first learning the game?

I learned the ropes playing Zones since it kinda spaces everyone out across the map, rather than focusing everyone on two areas, like in CTF.

This game has actually kept me away from CoD4, which I probably should put more time into. The fact that there's just so much that you can do, and with a variety of weapons, each match keeps me on the edge of my seat. I played about 10 minutes of CoD4 and felt like I was playing CoD3, but in a urban setting. Still, there must be something I'm missing because everyone is praising the hell out of it, but it felt like too familiar in my brief time with it.

                        Back to Warhawk...

Sluggish controls? I'm going to go out on a limb and say you didn't spend too much time with the vehicles, because they are everything but sluggish. Where Warhawk shines brightest is with how well each vehicle handles, and how easy they are to maneuver.

I felt the same about COD4, you aren't alone. Nothing innovative at all about it, just another shooter to me.

I love the controls in Warhawk, very easy to get the hang of.

The best thing to do for Warhawk is to set up a private room by yourself and play around for 30 mins getting used to everything.

This isn't the COD4 thread, but COD4 is amazing. Silky smooth, well balanced between the classes and weapons so nothing feels overpowered, and the maps are diverse and interesting. But then I've always liked the COD4 games, so it goes without saying that I'd like COD4 since it's the culmination of everything good about the previous COD games. But to each their own.

I guess I'll make a private room and mess around there for a while. I flew a plane last night and that was kind of fun, but it basically consisted of me floating through the air for a while before I saw the "missile lock" warning and then I exploded. But even while flying, the action felt kind of....stilted. Hard to explain, I guess.

I figured that out. It still felt floaty, though it was cool being able to do barrel rolls and stuff.
