What do you feel is the most overrated game?

I'm seriously asking this question to create some discussion. I know some of you guys get sensitive about these games, so no crying or cursing eachothers mothers. I was talking to a friend earlier and I told him that I thought it was the Halo series in general. I'm not saying the games aren't decent, but I don't think they're as good as they hype they recieve. I have a bit of a bias because I'm not really that into games where you're shooting aliens and jumping 30 feet in the air. However, I think I've put in enough time to them to honestly make that statement.

Regardless, what do you guys think?

i agree with 2 of your 3 picks. metal gear and halo feel to me a bit overrated. OTOH, i like the 2k football games. .

I think that the NFL 2K5 game was a good game but it is overrated a bit by some. It's the closest to reaching the hype though in my opinion compared to the others.

Definitely Halo.

Madden and 2K Football are both.

I'd say 2K Sports as a whole is overrated, simply because we tend to give the underdog some slack. They make great games, but have had some serious issues in most recent years (leagues, freezing)

I don't think halo is overrated, its the best arcarde type shooter compared to Unreal Tournament. I prefer halo's pace and controls and a reason why millions around the world play it. Madden is almost forced to be purchased by football fans with it's nfl license where as Halo would have ton's of competition for shooters. They found a formula that meets in the middle for the world of fps where its not super arcadish and not extremely realistic.

Actually I take that back. Everybody I know who plays videogames casually picks up NBA Live like it's still that ****. I guess cause they been playing that **** since '95 lol.

If 2K5 were half as good as 2K fans remember it being, it would be the greatest thing ever created by humans. The GTA games derive most of their popularity through their profane and graphic nature, but as videogames they're not really doing anything amazing, imo. And the Halo series was a tough choice, since its incredible backstory is what sets it apart from other futuristic FPS games and I love Halo's atmosphere and storyline. But when viewed solely as a FPS, it's not all that incredible imo either.

Better than toilet paper...Even if toilet paper never existed you could still play 2k5 with a hand covered in **** :wink:

GTA series has been amazing...but they need a new formula. I disagree that they are not doing anything new, they have basically created a whole new genre, even though they killed it IMO with the Liberty City Stories, and Vice City Stories...I didn't even get VCS because I grow tired of the formula.

Halo 1 IMO deserved the hype. There is no feeling I got that can equal what Halo:Comabt Evolved did when I got it and played it on my big screen. Of course all of the events were scripted in that first level...but I was sure I was playing a movie. Then that one level (I forget the name) where you get off the transport with your troops...then the Halo theme starts playing...that part was magic man. Then when you first meet the flood...magic. So many memorable levels. I'd like to mention that Bioshock does have the same effect...

Halo 2 was overhyped IMO though.

NFL 2k5 is overhyped. Some people act like it was a gift from the Gods of gaming. A great game though.

The Halo 2 Single Player campaign was a let down. The multiplayer made huge leaps in my opinion though. And in the same vein the Gears of War multiplayer aspect was a disapointment, but the single player (and co-op) was amazing.
