^ WOW! Unless I am not happy with the demo, this is a day 1 purchase for me. I need to get to Best Buy and reserve now so I can get the demo code. Only a few weeks away before the demo is released.

I could see myself spending hours just climbing from area to area and killing folks (that's if you can harm random people like in the GTA games, does anyone know?) I used to just sit somewhere in GTA games and kill people over and over.

      Now THAT was sick.

And Dookie... make sure the Best Buy guy/girl gives you the preorder box. The kid at mine tried to throw it away after I put my five bucks down and I'm like "No don't do that! The demo code is in there!"

He was clueless... so just make sure

LOL that's funny. So, they are taking preorders now? I will have to go today if I get a chance.

Is there going to be any online modes with this game?

Yup, they sure are! I preordered it on Saturday. The early demo is available for dl sometime around may 6 if I remember right without looking at the voucher.

Also, you won't get the Uncharted demo code until you actually go and purchase inFamous on release day.

Online modes... not sure! I know the demo is just for single player.

            inFAMOUS - Trophies and Stunts

So, we know you all love stunts and so do we at Sucker Punch. The testing team here had the super fun job of coming up with some cool ways Cole could take down and kill enemies by doing a combination or sequence of events. To do this, the team relied upon their experiences playing the game everyday and noting where there were enemy setups and likely systemic behavior in the story missions and mini-missions that allowed them to pull off these cool stunts.

They created a list of 40 or more such combos, as we called them. We also enlisted the Sony test team for their list. Between the two teams we had a candidate list that totaled more than 80 stunts. To choose the best stunts for inFAMOUS, I created what I called an experience monitor. The experience monitor basically “listened” for raw attack events, such as an electromagnetic blast attack, and would record these events in a ring buffer. As enemies got damaged, the details of their damage would be associated with the raw attack event. In the end, we ended up with over 20 pretty cool stunts that we can’t wait for you guys to experience.

One of my favorite stunts is the environment kill. This involves making clever use of the environment to take down or kill enemies. If there’s a propane tank or a vehicle near some enemies, shoot at them until they blow up. If the blast takes down the enemy, you score this stunt. What’s fun about this is luring the enemies near the exploding device and using it to your advantage. What fun! You would think the enemies would catch on to this, but they just keep coming back for more! One of the harder stunts to pull off is the melee finisher. With this one, you must take down or kill at least 3 enemies in a row with Cole’s melee attack. You must do this quickly, since you only have ½ second between each kill in order for it to count.

So, for trophies, we have a number of different categories which are:
            • Game, story and mini-mission completion
            • Collect all dead drops and shards
            • Traversal
            • Stunts
            • Power-Based
            • Karmic decisions

The “Get Off My Cloud” trophy is probably one of the easiest trophies to unlock. The idea here is to use one of Cole’s powers to knock an enemy off a high location, such as a rooftop, and deal him damage that kills him when he hits the ground. Perform 100 of these and you unlock the trophy. Another fun trophy is the “Red Baron.” Blast enemies into the air and kill or take them down while they’re in-air. Do 100 of these and you’ve unlocked this trophy.

                Eurogamer Preview

So inFamous is primarily a work of gritty superhero escapism in the Frank Miller mode, as well as being a reaction against the stealthy restraint of the Sly Cooper games. Empire City is in extreme dire straits, naturally closer to the Gotham of The Dark Knight Returns or No Man's Land than 1999 Seattle. The graphic novel influence is also reflected in the game's superb cut-scenes, which are dramatically animated panes of 2D art by Sucker Punch's in-house comic artist with a growling, terse voiceover narrative from Cole that's pure Miller (as well as being one bit of house style to survive from Sly).
After a couple of hours spent playing four missions from inFamous, some from later in the game, it's clear that this is one thing Sucker Punch has got absolutely right. InFamous combines the nimble parkour style of Assassin's Creed or Mirror's Edge with Crackdown's exaggerated, brutish exuberance to brilliant effect. Cole is fast, his movements are fluid and urgent but predictable, his ability to climb anything is completely unrestricted, and in later stages his jumps are assisted by an electrical glide power that allows him to soar through the air for vast distances.

Jumping off a high ledge and sweeping across the city, picking landing points at will, is a big thrill. Cole can also "grind" at terrific speed along any electrical conduit, such as train tracks or the power-lines strung between buildings. This is a big boon when it comes to getting around the city's three islands quickly, since you won't be using vehicles in this game.
Although it's finished and so close to release, it's still hard to get a feel for inFamous, because it's hard to satisfactorily demo any open-world game; the missions played well but felt out-of-context because, well, they were. Context is everything, and inFamous will stand or fall on the character and atmosphere of Empire City and its troubled inhabitants.

That being the case, it can only be encouraging that Fox and Sucker Punch are so keenly aware of context, so plugged in to the city on their monitors and the city outside their windows. If they get it right, inFamous will be an awesome riot.

I had no idea we were going to be fighting robots and creature looking things. I thought it was like GTA, but someone with super powers.

                      Hmm...

So, I have a $15 Best Buy gift card. There's nothing I really wanted with it, so I decided I was probably going to use it for a PSN Store card and just get some more Rock Band songs or something.

I have never preordered a game before, and lately what I've started doing is getting games off Half or Ebay a few months after they are out... saves a bunch of money. But with this Best Buy preorder offer, I'm starting to think about using the gift card for inFamous and getting it day one. The game looks that sweet, and I'd love to get in on the demo plus the Uncharted beta. Decisions, decisions...
