That sucks. Probably the must fun game I played on 360 this year.

Re: No Crackdown 2
My guess exactly BUT there was a catch with the game. The Halo demo might have moved a lot of those games. Still, I think it was such a great game that they shouldn't just write it off. I was borrowing it from my friend all summer. I couldn't help but purchase that sucker because it is well-designed. I dreamed about that game. I could only imagine what they'd bring to the table in the next title. I'm sure they're slowly brainstorming about the next one. Just not putting it into motion. M$ would be stupid not to jump on this.Comment

Crackdown 2: “The door’s not closed,” says Realtime Worlds
Speaking to VG247 at Develop, Realtime Worlds has offered a God-sent glimmer of hope that we may yet see a sequel to free-roaming future cop blockbuster Crackdown, one of the most-loved Xbox 360 games. That’s the spirit.
“It was a horrible, horrible decision that we still dwell on,” said studio boss Colin Macdonald of the choice not to move ahead straight onto a second game.
“But I don’t think the door’s closed. Obviously, right now we’re tied up with APB and everything else, but hopefully in the future we’ll have the resource and something can be worked out with Microsoft.”
Good gravy. There are a great many people in the world that would dearly love to see that happen, we said.
“Including 200 people in Dundee,” Macdonald added. “We would have loved to have seen it. We poured five years of our lives into that game. You know, we’ve got guys on the development team that have Crackdown tattoos, permanent tattoos on their arms. We’re extremely passionate about it.
“But at the end of the day we’re a company that has to do what’s best for the company. We’ve got to stay in business. And the numbers just didn’t add up. We’re not in the business of doing things because we’d like to, if we can’t guarantee that it makes sense for the company. That doesn’t work.”
Microsoft: please, please, sort this out. Please. We didn’t get level four hand grenades for nothing, you know.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: No Crackdown 2
Very fun game. I still need a lot of achievements, so at least I know I won't have to rush into a sequel before taking care of that.PS: You guys are great.

Re: No Crackdown 2
Even if they just made the story a little longer and brought it a few more weapons I'd buy this game. Ever since I finished Crackdown I havent had fun playing a game like that since.
I also dreamed about the game.
My girlfriend at the time played it with me all the time...we used to say "oooh look I bet there's an orb on the top of that building!"-Jay Illestrate, Emcee/Producer/Graphic Artist

Re: No Crackdown 2
I hope that it comes out too. I can't say enough about that game. Would have walked much on its own. Honestly, it's the only game that I stayed up playing day and night. I lost hours of sleep playing that game that I've never done since......Age of Empires 2, Rise of Nations, The Sims.......That's definitely putting it up there. Even my girlfriend (Currently my wife) loved watching me play the game because of the rush it gave. I hope that they make it harder to level-up, give us more penalties, and make incredibly hard bosses.Comment

Re: No Crackdown 2
I actually went and deleted all of my memory for the game so I could go through it one more time. I still have all of my achievements, which is important to me, but now I'm playing the game again for fun.
It's just as awesome the second time around.-Jay Illestrate, Emcee/Producer/Graphic Artist

Re: No Crackdown 2
Crackdown helped me pass time while recovering from emergency surgery and being off work. I became obessed with finding all the Orbs.
It was a really fun game too. All the different puzzles with climbing, and all the achievements.
But, just my Opinion. Too bad there's no Crackdown 2.Comment

Report: Scottish Developer Ruffian Formed - Crackdown 2 A Possibility?
Gamasutra has learned that a Dundee, Scotland-based developer called Ruffian Games has been founded by key Crackdown-related employees, including lead designer Billy Thomson, with unconfirmed reports of a Crackdown sequel in development there.
A recent Flickr picture set shows a trio of Ruffian employees, including Xen Group veteran Gaz Liddon, surveying offices in the Dundee area.
In 2006 and 2007, Xen Group provided "core technology" for rendering and physics, artwork, design and managerial resources to the original Crackdown, which was developed by David Jones' Dundee-based Realtime Worlds.
In addition, Crackdown lead designer Billy Thomson, associated with Xen Group following his stint on the game, also appears to be a member of the new Ruffian team, which was in the process of moving into new permanent offices in October.
As for hints on a sequel to Realtime Worlds' 'sleeper' futuristic action title for Xbox 360, which has sold over 1.5 million copies, a recent issue of Game Informer magazine claims of the Crackdown franchise: "The first title was developed by Realtime Worlds, but the company is currently working on APB and not Crackdown 2. The sequel is in production with a different development team."
Judging from legal filings and comments in early 2008 from Microsoft's Shane Kim, it appears that Microsoft wholly owns the intellectual property for the franchise, and can assign it to a developer of their choice.
More intrigue on the subject of a sequel has come via a recent Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb podcast, as reported on by Kotaku, which had Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer commenting enigmatically on sequel possibilities: "Yes, Crackdown's one of my favorites. I'll leave it at that."
However, if Dundee-based Ruffian is indeed working on a follow-up to the now cult Xbox 360 franchise, as unconfirmed sources have claimed to Gamasutra, it's likely to be very early in development.
Gamasutra will update as it receives more details on the company and its plans.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
