It looks like chaos. It doesn't look that great, but anything that gets a 9.0+, I give a try. Even though the review websites are shady sometimes, if a game gets a concensus 9+, its usually a darn fine game, regardless of genre.

You can't go into WiC thinking of a traditional RTS. It's more about teamwork; I believe that it's a lot like the Battlefield series, only you control squads RTS style rather than just yourself as a lone entity. I'm sure to get the best experience you will need to join a clan and play with serious players.

Picked this game up on Tuesday because of the high marks. Game is alright, nice storyline with the escalation of the Cold War.

However, i can't help but feel underwhelmed with the game upon my initial impressions. Maps are fairly generic, units generic. It just seems like a step down from Company of Heroes which is an amazing game. Just my opinion. Graphics are PS2 ish.

The only way I can see these graphics being PS2ish is if your rig isn't capable of running the game without setting the bare minimums. Are you running a Geforce 5 series or what? These are some of the absolute best graphics you can get in an RTS. The lighting, the environment damage, the nukes, the napalm strikes are all top notch, not to mention to orginality of the maps. I'm sorry this isn't your cup of tea. I've been playing RTS's since the original C&C and WIC is without a doubt top 3 EVER!

Funny that it keeps getting max scores in GFX then, and generic units? All units seems to modeled after their real ones, like the Bradley, F16, Anona in USSR etc...
Gamespy gave it 5/5, EGM 9.25 etc....

I think it all depends on your rig I'm running with E6600 and a 8800GTX graphics card with the graphics maxed and it sure is detailed PS2ish not even close.

My buddy loves this game...I'm going to pick it up ASAP. I upgraded my graphics card and RAM so hopefully I won't have any problems.

LOVE this game. I'm busy with another "project" right now, so I'm just dipping in for a while checking things out....but this game is a BLAST to play IMO.
Graphics look great on my PC....so I guess it might just be a case of preference.......and my rig, while it is a pretty good Alienware, is a little old, so it's definitely not top of the line anymore.

I am just over the min requirements but the game keeps freezing on me during the 1st mission.

I am using 1024 x 768 on low graphics setting.

I have a 3Ghz single core
XP
1 GB RAM
256 GeForce 6600

Seems like a truly great RTS though, hopefully there is a patch for us low level users.

I think your cpu is ok but you need a much stronger videocard and more ram would help.
