Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
Second impressions.....
After the initial underwhelming feeling went down on day one I popped it in again and started to appreciate the game for what its worth. A nice story driven adventure game with splashes of action.
Cant lie, the story is wonderful. And each case feels like a episode of Dragnet thats for sure. Turning off chimes and aids will increase the tension at a crime scene as well and make you feel more like a detective. So thats a definite plus.
One thing I have to commend R* on is the city and its level of detail. Just looking at some of the landmarks enteriors is something that needs to be appreciated. At first I wasn't feeling the lack of sandbox gaming in LA Noire but the enviorment does a good job at immersion and making you feel like you're in 40s LA.
Despite the games lack of depth, the cases themselves are worth the experience. These cases are disturing and full of intrigue and mystery with excellent detail paid attention to each of the enviorments you visit. The action sequence on each cases finale have all been fun so far.
Only thing that still bothers me is the driving in this game. If the cars had a more distinct difference from one another, it would make the game that much better cause the hunt for the greatest car would be on. On another note, the damage models for the cars make up for it. Watch a car run into something at a high speed and watch the parts fly. The physics are nice.
Anyway, after some more time I've come to appreciate is for what it is instead of what I wanted it to be. I expected more but I've come to grips at what the game set out to be. And thats to experience what it would be like to be a 40s detective in a GTA inspired world. The city is huge enough and full of little nooks and cranies worth exploring.
So there you have it. I was once blind and now I see.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Anyone running into these types of problems with the game?
Which then lead me to this...

Sony says PS3 firmware is not to blame; Rockstar hints at possible fault with game
Echoing off the record comments made to MCV, a Sony spokesperson has told Edge that the PS3 3.61 firmware is categorically not to blame for the LA Noire overheating issues.
In fact, the spokesperson added that the problem has now spread to Xbox 360 consoles.
"As with the release of any System Update, we will invariably see a very small number of users whose console has failed following updating their console, which is an unfortunate coincidence" Sony stated.
"Rockstar have now updated their FAQ on the matter, have admitted that it is a fault with their latest title LA Noire and have offered a work around. It should also be noted that the issue with this title is not PS3 specific and is also affecting other consoles."
Rockstar Customer Support is now advising any users experiencing problems to delete their game data (not their save data) from their PS3 or clear their cache on Xbox 360. It also advises the creation of a temporary new user account. Work toward finding a resolution is already underway.Comment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
I have not had it freeze but it does seem to be running a little hotter/noisier than usual. I have an old 20 gig model and it does seem to be making more noise when playing the game but I have not had it freeze.Anyone running into these types of problems with the game?

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
I did not pre-order the game but I got the detective suit from Amazon. Is that normal or did I get lucky?
Also, is the Consul Car DLC provided with every PS3 game?Last edited by Moses Shuttlesworth; 05-19-2011, 10:28 AM.Comment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
Question for anyone who used the K-Mart deal. Do I just need my rewards card member number when I buy LA Noire? I didn't see any coupon to print out for the free $19.99 game.Comment

I have a question about the pre-order cases. Do they actually show up in the main game or can I only play them from the cases menu?
