Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
First Vice Case opinion
SpoilerAnyone really enjoy this mission? I forgot what name the case was, but you had to decipher the 7 notes which led you in a different location.
I just thought it was a great change of pace, wanted to see what you guys thought on the mission. I probably enjoyed it more because I finally got 5 stars on this case

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
Go to the main menu, you can scroll through the writing that comes up on the wall. Instead of hitting "A" on RESUME, scroll to the Cases...From there you can select what desk of cases you want and which specific case to do.Comment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
My thoughts on Cole Phelps, dont read if youre not in Arson yet (beware of other spoilers):
SpoilerIMO Cole Phelps is one of rockstars weakest main protagonists. As much as they tried to give him character and personality, it just fell flat for me. He starts out looking after himself, disregarding his squadron/partner and doesn't evolve too much from there at all. He spends the entire game on a high horse. And then in a weak attempt to give him another dimension, they randomly make him an adulterer, which apparently was a crime back then? That blindsided me. Did I miss something there? They never showed Cole's family or his family life. Were we suppose to know his family life was on the rocks? His adultery was most definitely a plot device to demote him, it was painfully obvious.
Kind of spoiler, but you could assume this by now:
SpoilerRockstar did themselves and Cole a great disservice by leaving his family out of the story. Where you have Nico, Louis, and especially Marston who all have ties to their families throughout their storyline, Cole has one scene where his wife leaves him, and a shot of a photo of his daughters. We dont even get to see the development of his relationship with his mistress, just a random time lapse and they're in love?
Significant Spoiler Dont read unless youre done with the game:

Then the game marginalizes Cole as a character again when they give you a significant amount of gameplay as John Kelso, insurance investigator. In the short time playing as John, I was hooked to him as a character and personality. They gave us too much time with him, by the end, I was wishing the story were more about him rather than Cole.
Phenomenal game, but the character of Cole Phelps was weak in my opinion. No character development at all. One selfish SOB from the start to the end (minus one very random act of selfishness at the end).Last edited by kingkilla56; 05-20-2011, 01:40 PM.Comment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
I think some of you guys were talking about this a couple of pages back? Whether or not people were going to do "The Naked City" case after you finished everything else...
If you downloaded the case, it will come up when it's time during the regular game, just a FYIComment

Re: L.A. Noire (PS3/360)
My thoughts exactly. I was a little disappointed with how that one turned out.Golden Butterfly spoilers
SpoilerI charged the pedo, though honestly that case felt only half investigated by the time you had to charge someone (no checking the coveralls against the coveralls used at their employers, no tests on the bloody shoe he was trying to burn, no questioning the friend about the rabbits, no search of pedo's house, etc).Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks
