Mine is having a midnight release too in Pa. I got a text saying to arrive at 10 pm to finalize payment and there going to hand out the game at 12:01 am. Has anyone been to a gamestop midnight release? Do I actually have to show up at 10 and finalize payment or can I come at like 11:55 because I honestly don't feel like waiting there for two hours? My guess is i can just go at 11:55 but it doesn't seem like that by the way the text was worded.

i got that text too but im not going up there till like after 11. no way im standing around for 2 hours. im pretty sure you can wait until you get up to the desk to make ur final payment.

No. Or at least they've never said anything about it.

Also, **** IGN (even though I do occasionally go there for news/articles ). I trust reviews from a place like Kotaku much more.

I think I'm going to call my EB and see if they're doing a midnight release. If not I might go to a 24 hr Wal-Mart around midnight and hope they have the electronics area open.

I've been to 4-5 midnight releases. The Gamestop I go to is like a headquarters of sorts and it's huge. They have a stage with 6 TV's and hold gaming competitions there a couple times a month. The largest release I've been to had at least 50 people there (Star Wars: Force Unleashed). I showed up at about 11:45 and got in line. Was done and out of there by 12:15. I had already paid in full but a couple people showed up after me, went up to the counter, finished their payment and got in line behind me. I see NO reason to have to be there at 10 o'clock.

I'm going to hold off until tomorrow morning. If all goes well I'll probably end up doing the same routine I do on NCAA/Madden release days. Get up early, quick workout so I don't feel lazy playing video games the rest of the day, then go grab the game and pick up breakfast on my way home.

Then playing. A lot.

I am hesitantly getting excited about this game. Got my PS3 copy reserved and still plan on picking this tomorrow. This will definitely be a change of pace for me, but I think I will get into it.

@ SPTO. he didnt describe anything in detail but he basically told you what to expect during a certain part of the game. he could have said what he said in a different way.

Yeah I see...There really needs to be better editing at IGN.

After reading some of these posts, i now now this is the place to not come when the game is released. Some of the subtle inquiries may end up ruining the experience of the game without people even knowing that they are doing it. After tomorrow, this thread may end up being a ghost town or the spoiler tabs are gonna be getting used like never before.

After reading some of these posts, i now now this is the place to not come when the game is released. Is it better than...

Heavy Rain? Yes. Not only is there more "game" here, but L.A. Noire tells a more coherent story, with better acting and fewer creepy feigned accents.

Mafia II? Yes. While the games are fundamentally different – Mafia II's emphasis is almost entirely on linear driving and shooting, while Noire's is on open-ended investigation – they both try to build an open-world re-creation of postwar America.

Red Dead Redemption? No, although it’s damn close.

They also have a video of the PS3 and 360 versions running side by side.
