Gamefly: How long till you get your games ??

How many days does it take to normally get a game on avg after it is shipped. I had some ship Monday and they are not here yet. I would expect 2 days to get them but.... maybe I am expecting too much.

It depends... I average 2 or 3 days. Sometimes I get one in little over a day, but on a few occasions it has taken almost 7 days. I think sometimes when you get that email that they sent you the game, they really didn't send it yet.

If gamefly ships me a game on Monday I get it Friday. For some reason all the games the ship to me come from California instead of their Pittsburge warehouse. I don't really understand it.

Good point, that's probably why it's taking so long.

Re: Gamefly: How long till you get your games ??

I've been with them for a while now so here's my experience.

November to December is the worst time to receive games. All that holiday mail really slows down the game. I'm going off of newly released games becuase usually they are easier to figure out when they get here.

ETA: Ship Weds, received mon or tuesday of the following week.

After the holidays it picks up substantially...
                ETA: Ship Weds received Fri.

From Spring and Summer it seems to fluctuate.
                ETA: Ship Weds received Fri-Sat.

Now there's a couple of games that got throught the USPS very quickly.

Bioshock and Madden were shipped Monday or Tuesday and I received them Thursday. It's rare for a game to be recieved within just two days of shipping but it happens.

Also there's the hidden rule of Gamefly. The more you want a game the longer it will take to get to your house. Games that you didn't want or forget to take off your queue, you'll see them the fastest.

Re: Gamefly: How long till you get your games ??

I almost always get my games 2 days after shipping. The exception will be the holidays, like JRod mentioned. At that point, it may be three or four days.

The odd part of the whole thing is Netflix never changes. 1 day there, 1 day back. I don't think it's entirely on the USPS...I just don't think Gamefly is nearly as efficient. I've been with them since they started the company practically, except for a period when I moved and their service took an extra few days to get to my BFE Post Office. Since moving back from the sticks it's been consistent 3 day turnaround total...1 day ship back, 2 days to receive another game (provided it's available--that's something that's gone downhill as they get larger. Harder and harder to get the "current" games at any decent availability).

Re: Gamefly: How long till you get your games ??

They said they shipped out my first 2 games Monday 10/8. But being it was a holiday, I'm sure they shipped it 10/9. Today I recieved PGR4, but not the other game. Hopefully it arrives tomorrow. Like fishepa, my games came from California as well.

Do you guys still buy games or just rent them through Gamefly? I'm interested in joining since I want a ton of games, but don't have the $$$ to pay for them.

I initially signed up last weekend to get The Orange Box from GameFly. Wednesday rolled around, and I had bought it at lunch so...

But I plan on trying to buy less, and renting more.

That's cool. I'm just wondering if it really is worth it for me to pay $24 a month for two games at a time. It's a tough choice really because I don't play enough to probably make it worth it.

I buy games if I know I'll like them. NBA 2K, MLB: The Show and Bioware RPGs will be bought the day they come out because I won't want to wait for Gamefly to ship it. If it's a game that I don't need the day it comes out, I rent it since I obviously am not that interested in that game anyway. If a game only becomes a must-buy for me after I've already tried it, that means I'm currently renting it from Gamefly so I can just buy the rented copy at a discount price.

                              Works perfectly for me.
