    Virtua Fighter 5 Demo Impressions

Although I didn't get much into part 4 since I don't have a PS2, I've always had loved the VF series since the original.

I played the Virtua Fighter 5 demo for the first time last night and think it is amazing. There's only a selection of 4 fighters to choose from in the demo (Akira, Sarah, Eileen and El Blaze), and it ends after beating the third fighter. So it's pretty much a really small sampling of the game. At any rate, controls are just as responsive and precise as it has always been in a VF game. The fighter movements and animations are top notch, and graphics are outstanding.

I still don't know what the Xbox 360 arcade stick looks like yet, but I know I'll get a couple of them just for this game. As weird as this sounds, VF just isn't VF without arcade sticks to play the game on. Heh, there ain't no way a VF enthusiast could do a SPoD on a regular controller and feel the same way as he/she does doing this move on an authentic arcade stick.

Is there anyone else getting VF5 when it drops later this month?

only disappointment in the demo for me was that Lei Fei wasn't a playable character... other than that it was solid.

This is definitely on the radar because of the demo. I've always liked VF but never been very good at it. Granted, the demo's difficulty is on an easy level but sheer smoothness of the animations, the graphics (great), and the obvious depth of the engine is amazing. I was really surprised that using the analog stick was as responsive as it was; I'm sure w/an arcade stick it's amazing

Yes, with the addition of online play.

According to this press release, Sega has announced that VF5 will feature online Xbox Live play. On top of that, the game is based on the latest arcade game update. We hesitate to say it, but these two points make the Xbox360 version the superior release. The game will also have force feedback and an expanded quest mode.

Downloading now...I remember playing VF and VF2 a lot in the arcades. Made me almost want a Sega 32x (VF was only on that for consoles back then). Luckily I didn't make that mistake lol.

Haven't played in years though, will be interesting to feel how the series plays now, I'm more used to the Soul Calibur control/gameplay.

Having online play is huge... I will probably be picking this game up.

Re: Virtua Fighter 5 Demo Impressions

I loved the demo..but I have to face the reality that I will never be competitive online, and since single player gets old quick, I'll prolly pass on this. I haven't played a VF regularly since the 2nd one in the arcade. I would love to get the book and try to master it, but I don't have the time, patience, or manual dexterity for it. Imma wait for Soul Cal to try and master.

This demo looked and felt great though, especially the skin textures. Great graphics.
