A PC vest accessory that mimics the feeling of being hit by real bullets when playing first-person shooters will go on sale in November.

TN Games, makers of "physical experience hardware," will release a PC vest accessory on Nov. 21 that mimics the feeling of being hit by real bullets when playing first-person shooters.


The 3rd Space FPS Vest features eight embedded contact points that are said to simulate the direction and force of bullet fire in a first-person shooter game.


"Our patented vest technology now provides gamers with an unprecedented opportunity to physically experience their action... feel the rush of body slams, be crushed with G-forces, feel a stab wound or be blasted with bullet fire in either a single or multi-player game," said Mark Ombrellaro, founder of TN Games.


The 3rd Space FPS Vest comes bundled with a TN Games developed first-person shooter in addition to a 3rd Space enabled version of Call of Duty II. The rumble suit retails for US$189, although it can be purchased online without Call of Duty II for $169.


Shipping Nov. 21, the FPS vest also supports Quake 3, 4, and Doom 3 via free software patches found on the Redmond-based company's website. It is available in black, digital camouflage, and pink and comes in two adjustable sizes.

I'd rather have the limited edition Halo Candyman5 vest.

No seriously, sounds to gimmicky to me. Nothing like taking a sniper bullet to the back of the head and feeling it in your chest. Although I wont really knock it till I try it.

Kinda stupid, I think in a few years stuff like this will become a bigger deal though. I remember reading a EGM issue about 6 months ago or more probably talking about the future of gaming, this is knida along the lines they were talking about.

The same reason they like feeling the rumble in a controller when getting tackled when playing a football game.

I think it's the evolution of the rumble. If done right, it'll be a hit.

Knew it was coming but that was quick.

I like the Z-dome thing but it's a little too pricy for me. Would have to get a separate room for that with a bolt, guard dog, and some laser contraption to keep people out like the one from Resident Evil. Still, I'm not a FPS fan, but if they got football and basketball games to utilize that thing.......

The vest is dumb because it's not precise as precise. It's quadrant based it seems with four in the front and four in the back. Wonder how far and wide this type of technology will go. If this gets more intimate like Capa points out, you better believe that marriages will suffer tremendously.......
