This was the WORST time for my 360 to die...

Go figure. Heading into one of my most anticipated months of games ever, my 360 gets the rings of death. This has to happen the DAY before GH3, and within a month of Assassins Creed and Mass Effect, and from what I hear, it will take about 3-4 weeks for me to get it (or a new one) back

Sad thing is, I knew it was coming soon, as it had trouble playing DVD's (hitch in the video every 10 or so seconds), and my 360 has been having trouble once in a while turning on. But, for it to happen the day before GH3 and within a month of AC and ME, it's just maddening. Not to mention, I had a great season of All Pro Football going, and i've been playing Halo 3 online more often. Thankfully I beat Bioshock a couple days ago, as I would have been royally p*ssed if I lost my 360 before beating the game.

The only solace I have is that, one, I will be getting either a fully repaired 360 or a brand new one finally, and two, that Fire Pro Returns comes out for PS2 in mid November.

It's never easy to let a loved one go, but it's even harder when you have to wait with the carcass for the coffin to arrive.

Thankfully, I bought a store warranty and when one of them dies, I do a nice lil' swap. Worked with grandma too! The new one bakes better cookies!
The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no further!

It may not be ethical, but couldnt you go buy a new one and use it until you get your refurb back and then go return the one you bought?

        Either way, that really sucks!

Is there anyway one could say go to a store, buy a new 360, switch the hard-drives and then return the old 360 to the store?

Its not ethical but thats exactly what im doing right now. ****ing Microsoft wants to take a month to repair my 360 instead of sending me a new one.

At stores like Costco and Walmart probably because they dont check that hard but at best buy they make sure the serial number matches the one on the box.

Just took my 360 in today. I'm not the kind of video game head that can't wait a month though. I just put that time into art and guitar, and when I get the 360 back I'll pick up Mass Effect, Rock Band, and Choops and dive back in.

It's an addiction when you can't take time off.

I got the replacement plan at Best Buy as well. Ten minute drive, 10 minutes in the store, 10 minutes back home and I had a new 360. I never get the extended warranties on anything, but on the 360 I did since all the problems.

Honestly what choice do we have. Its just not right to have to wait over a month to receive something you already own. Maybe these retailers will catch on and pressure Microsoft into helping out with a quality product. But I doubt it.
