It's a toss up between Madden and WE PES2007. Madden's problems have been well documented. I felt that both products were garbage and not equal to those on lesser systems. You couldn't even move players around in WE, and the rosters were out of date once the game came out.

Madden 08.....
Although I found Halo 3 to be WAY overrated(I think reviewers were "scared" to say that they believed the game was just above average because of the hype), I wouldn't put it in the "damn, I wasted 60 dollars" category.
I do say that about Madden.
I'm done with that franchise...for certain.

Re: 2007 Most Disappointing Next Gen Purchase
As strange as it sounds, NBA2k8. Now don't get me wrong, it is an outstanding basketball sim. But, from all the impressions I read, I truly thought that I would enjoy it, but because of how much I dislike the crapshoot that is the NBA, and my lack of knowledge in basketball, it was dissapointing for me. I had fun at first playing on pro level, but I got bored of blowing everyone out. Then when I hit All Star, it was a huge difference, and I was constantly slaughtered. Granted, if I actually gave a damn about basketball, I probably would have cared enough to learn the plays and sets, but I just didn't want to to be honest. It might have been also that I had tons of games I wanted to play when I bought 2k8 such as Halo, Bioshock, and APF, and I just wasn't as interested after I bought it.
So yeah, NBA2k8, not because it was a bad game at all, but because I thought it could overcome my general disdain for basketball and basketball games, but it just couldn't. I really need to give up on basketball games, because I haven't truly enjoyed a bball game since old school NBA Jam and maybe NBA Street. Not a fault of the games, I just don't enjoy the sport that much.
Aside from that, Madden is the other obvious choice, as it was just a heaping pile of crap. However, aside from Madden and NBA, I have thoroughly enjoyed every other purchase i've made this year.Comment

Re: 2007 Most Disappointing Next Gen Purchase
I would have said Madden, but I didn't really expect much and so wasn't really disapointed per se. I'd have to give that award to X-Men III. I was all excited for some next-gen slice-em-up action, but that POS was terrible, and to make things worse, I traded my copies of Oblivion and DOA4 and for it. I was so pissed, lol.
edit: oh wait...only 07 titles? Thats tough, I've pretty much liked everything this year. After the X3 fiasco, I don't buy anything new or unproven without loving the demo first. APF was a letdown due to the utter lack of features but I wouldn't call it a disappointment, it gave me a real hype month or so. So...I say none. Final answer.Last edited by HMcCoy; 10-29-2007, 01:54 AM.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Yeah! Battlestations: Midway is a great example...I don't know exactly what I wanted but this game wasn't what it should have been. Could have been done much much better.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

"Formula One Championship Edition"
I bought this game the same time I picked up my PS3.... I was good for about 5days... way too complicated for a novice, that doesn't know how to tweak a F1 racer....don't get me wrong the game is intense... racing good, graphics sweet.... wrecks wonderfully done.... I just couldn't break the top 30, ever....

Re: 2007 Most Disappointing Next Gen Purchase
At this point, Madden NFL 08, and running away. The game moves entirely too fast for my tastes, the entire game is really out of balance IMO, and apparently is glitch-ridden in franchise mode (though I've never gotten past preseason in a franchise due to my problems with the game; not to mention the fact that Madden's Franchise mode in general has gotten very stale).
To be honest, none of the football games really met my expectations this year, they all had pretty glaring flaws, IMO. All Pro Football 2K8, while the most enjoyable for me on the field, is a very shallow title, while in NCAA I had problems with the CPU pass defense and option defense in general (though it plays far better than Madden, IMO), not to mention how long it took to get place to place in the menus. However, Madden's flaws were just the most obvious, in my eyes.Last edited by Hooe; 10-29-2007, 03:22 AM.Comment
