    Mass Effect Revelation (Book) Discussion

    ***SPOILER ALERT***

I just finished reading this over the weekend and thought it would be interesting to discuss here, but would WARN those who haven't read or haven't finished reading the book to not visit here because of possible spoilers.

The book is an easy read and lays down the groundwork for the actual game, explaining species, the structure of the universe and humanity's role therein. Personally, if you are going to put time into this game, I don't see why you wouldn't read the prequel.

I thought it would be interesting to talk about speculations, thoughts and opinions gained from the book.

Obviously, this thread will contain SPOILERS.

I was JUST looking at this at Amazon. I am definitely going to try to read this before I buy the game. It looks cool and I can probably finish it in a weekend.

The book was great and did a good job of setting things up for the game.

I have two interests from the book I'd like to know more about. One, the romantic relationship between Lieutenant Anderson and Khalee Sanders, and two, (the more obvious one) the role our character (shepherd) will have with Saren.

Well it's pretty clear that Anderson and Khalee aren't going to get together or anything, she told him that she didn't see him like that and they don't even know when they're going to see each other again.

Yes, but the author really developed the romantic side of this relationship. I do remember a reference to Khalee thinking to herself that the two could be "more than friends."

At times, I often wondered if Shepherd was the son/daughter of the two, but that would be a bit obvious.

That's an interesting theory. One I didn't really put together. The only issue with that, now that I think about it is that we will be able to customize the Shepard character, so he/she wouldn't necessarily fit the role as a child of Anderson and Sanders...

BTW, thanks for the post. This is a great idea, as I finished reading the book about three weeks ago and i felt that the story was slipping from mind. This discussion will help keep it fresh leading into the game release...

                  True..

The Trailers are obvious in Saren being one of the main characters, but did you notice the name of the captain of the ship?

What was the captains name? I didn't pay attention to it...

I think Saren uses the Sovereign techonlogy and allies with the Geth machine race to threaten all living species. Anderson has to save them by taking down Saren.

The description doesn't seem to mention it

*edit* I found that Barnes and Noble has Mass Effect Revelation at the store, so I think I'll just pick that up instead and get the game at Best Buy or somewhere (I hate preordering online)

Ding ding ding. That's it in a nutshell. I have a hunch too that the *Classified* project that Sanders was going to would somehow end up with Saren. Let's face it, after Qian she was the next best thing.

I wonder if we'll see anything of an aging Jon Grissom in the game as well?

I'm looking forward to seeing some of the locations of the book in game as well. I wonder if we'll even get to go to the Black Hole?

Just finished the book. I was surprised with how fast I read it(6 hours) it was very easy to read and get into. It was a really good story and just makes my anticipation for this game grow exponentially.

Like you Jistic, I can't wait to see some of the locations in game. I figure the story line for this game will be off the hook. There really is only a couple games that can boast this kind of a "IP universe" for the game.

I am a huge nerd when it comes to books, so I have read all the halo books and played all the halo games, and this IMO seems to surpass even that universe thought out by bungie.

Can't wait now for the 20th.
