I would agree as far as Halo 2 and 3. Halo 1 was pretty cool and was a decent leap forward. Not much since.

Until someone can point to a 1st person shooter (not made by Infinity Ward) that has even remotely the same degree of control Halo has, the overrated comments are in fact, overrated. The control in Halo is flawless.

I guess I just personally disagree with the control...gets old playing online where running and constantly jumping is the way to win. It may have a great degree of control, but I'm pretty sure military people in real life don't go jumping up and down while running across a battlefield.

I guess for me I can respect the game and that it's quality, but the online aspect gets annoying after a while. After the 20th random game with idiots who are racist or homophobic it gets old. Then there are the "OMG You're a cheater" guys who constantly complain...Maybe I don't dislike Halo I just think the Halo community (at least a vocal majority) is a bunch of asshats.

I have played a bunch of Halo in the past, and really enjoyed OS games...just can't always find those (especially now that I'm more out west, can't match up with East Coasters as easily). I know you can say "don't play randoms" but isn't that part of the point because of the extent Bungie concentrated on matchmaking?

I agree with all your complaints (running, jumping, racism, etc....), but to me, those have pretty much disappeared when I got to the 20's in Team Slayer (I am at 33 now). Running and jumping and whatnot do not work the higher you get up in skill level.

And all the racist/homophobe remarks, I guess I am lucky, as the higher I go up, it is a very random occurence. 90% of the time (I only play random ranked games), there is little to no talking.

I agree. Halo 1 was probably the best console FPS, but if you're including PC games, Halo is relatively average.

The voice acting/miming was terrible. I seriously couldn't pay attention to anything else in the video because of it.

I liked the other Halo games. I know that there are a number of FPS's out there that are better but I haven't played too many FPS's. Maybe that's why the Halo franchise has done so well - so many non FPS players are playing it.

The thing I like best about Halo is that I can consistently get good quality matches online. Their ranking system and matchmaking system is second to none. Most games with "ranked" matches don't seem to work out. But with Halo..particularly the newest one I'm almost guaranteed a close match when I'm playing a ranked play list. I can see how if you're just starting out it might be frustrating, but as you start leveling up it gets really good. I don't always win, but I don't get blown out usually either. And the wins are spread out far enough apart to not get bored with the game. This doesn't even take into account Bungie's aggressive stance on cheating and banning those who break the rules. Basically it boils down to the online play. With most shooters it seems it's tacked on as an afterthought. With Halo it's the meat and potatoes of the game. Hell, I've yet to complete the campaign on any of the games. It's just more fun for me to hop online and play. So I can see where the over rated comments come from if you're looking at it from just a single player perspective. Online play is where the goodness comes in this game. I've played other FPS and have never had as much enjoyment as I get with Halo.

I agree...I think I'm really starting to prefer the slightly slower paced strategy over the twitch...I know there's strategy in Halo, but I also know I can never compete with the people who have no lives and headshot from anywhere....And just with me personally Halo doesn't draw me in and make me want to play like NHL 08 and other games...

Glad everyone else loves it though!

Not even close. It is a great game, but it has hte control for a deliberate shooter. If played at a fast pace the control is nowhere near close to Halo.
