Best way to get cheap games?

Hey guys, I've been thinking recently, with the inordinate amount of good games coming out, how I could possibly minimize the dent in my pocket.

I mean, with solid titles like Halo 3, Orange Box, GH 3, Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, etc., etc., this gaming season is certainly taking it's toll on a good amount of people.

I already have Halo, and I'm incredibly tempted to get the rest of those games, but I know I don't have the funds to get them.

With the video game industry basically screwing us with the prices of games now, and the trade in value of games down to basically nothing, it's almost impossible to get a good deal at places like Gamestop or EB. Coupons and deals are also few and far between at bigger places like Bestbuy or Circuit City.

So what do you guys do to save cash when purchasing games? Are there any websites you like to use? I've looked on EBay, but I don't trust most of the sellers, and also Liongames.com seems ok, but they only offer a $5 trade value for APF 2k8.

    Thanks in advance.

Lion Games They run some good specials occasionally ( I got Halo 3 collectors edition for $49.99 and Mass Effect for 39.99 when they were running those specials) They also have decent trade in values and often offer extra money off games for trade-ins.

If you hunt around online, you can usually avoid paying the full $60 on new releases. Some walk in stores have had new release specials too. I wish I had FRY's near here.

I only buy top reviewed multiplayer games or AAA singleplayer games (like Oblivion, Bioshock and Mass Effect) on release date. Anything else can wait until the price drops significantly or its cheap used.

I do pretty well on amazon.com for used games. Try browsing all games for the console of your choice, then sort them from low to high price. There's quite a few good 360 games to be found for $15 or less. I just got Marval Ultimate Alliance for $9.

I've also been selling or trading my games faster to help buy new ones. Bioshock paid for most of Orange Box. Halo3 is paying for nearly all of PGR4. Even favorite games like GRAW2 and Gears that I'd normally hold on to, got sold. Too many new games to play now. I figure I could always rebuy them cheap next year if I really miss them.

you could join Gamefly and just rent them too. Downside is you won't get the game on release day.

Took GameFly a week to get me and heelfan our games. I suggest ordering from LionGames.com. I pre-ordered Call of Duty 4, Assasins Creed, and Kane and Lynch for just over $126. Ofcourse I couldn't wait for Call of Duty 4 to arrive in the mail later this week. So I bought it at GameStop this afternoon. Ofcourse I'll get my money back, as soon as my LionGames.com order arrives.

Thats exactly what I did with Halo 3 and plan to do with Mass Effect...I'll wait for COD4 though.

I'd say narrow down your must have games and wait to purchase the others. The games aren't going anywhere and they'll be cheaper in the future. There's a bunch of games that are over a year old and are solid titles.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Yup-very good advice. Plus, waiting lets you research the games sparking your interest for bugs. As we all know, some bugs can turn a 60 dollar game into an expensive beverage coaster. I do enjoy adding stuff to my collection all the time. Just recently I bought(for the pc)
Age of Mythology(GOTY Edition) and Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition-both for under $30 at Walmart. The replay value of these older games is basically endless, with mods and game editor tools. I'm always looking in the cheap game section of Walmart and Target. Can't even walk by there without at least looking. Add on: At my local Walmart, they had a decent selection of Xbox 360 games for $10 laying in a box on a table. If I had a 360,I would have snagged that table tennis game (ping pong). I think this time of the year stuff like that will pop up more, these stores need to dump their overstock so they can put the new big money games out.
