I am pretty sure you go to marketplace and then click on the redeem code icon on the lower left where you will then input the code.

It's the arcade version, and you have to be very fast.

Taken from the review of Contra (XBL version) on Teamxbox:

"Most importantly is the fact that since this is a recreation of the coin-op version of Contra is it designed with one thing in mind; eating up as many quarters as possible. The only problem is that we no longer need to plop quarters into an arcade machine, so the game doesn’t exactly carry over well from the mall to the console. Helping make this tolerable is that the thirty-lives code that was rumored to not be included, but after trying it out a few times we can confirm that it does in fact work. Once you are in the game's Xbox Live Arcade menu and you select Arcade Game, you'll get the Contra title screen. Here you enter the code; up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start. It might take a couple of tries for it to work, but trust us, it works. We had trouble getting it to work at first and thought perhaps it was lefft out, but eventually it managed to give us our much needed thirty lives. "

yeah the problem is B is used to exit the screen and A is used to start........makes no sense!!

It works cause I used it to beat the game. You have to be lighting fast, like Carl Douglas.
