I picked it up, and I've been playing a lot of it since my 360 is is RROD repair. It's extremely difficult, but so long as you don't mind dying a lot, it's also extremely awesome.

Unfortunately (depending on your pov), no. The Konami code still works, but it doesn't give you 30 lives, it gives you full weapon powerups. This is basically the reason the game is so difficult - once you're out of lives and continues, you have to start from the beginning (and yet I'm having too good of a time with it to be frustrated).

By the way, for anyone that doesn't know, my understanding is that once you beat the game you unlock the original NES contra and another contra game as well.

Contra and Super Contra are the unlockables. What sucks is that you can't play two players on the old games.

I bought it a few weeks back, it's in a tie with FFIII as my favorite DS game so far.
