    Re: Banjo-Threeie (360)

    George Kelion (Community Manager, Rare)

I wonder if the blueprint theme could be some kind of indication of what's new about the series, or if it's just a random template.

GK: Bingo! It wouldn't be much of a 'teaser' site if it didn't do any teasing, would it?
Assuming it's true, I'd love to see a new substantive gameplay mechanic in the platform genre.

GK: I'm more than confident we'll be able to fulfill that wish.
I doubt this will come 2008.

GK: The game is scheduled for a Holidays 2008 release - barring the coming of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, you should be playing Banjo 3 before the end of the year (providing you buy the game, that is).
No offense but no one likes the "wink wink" stuff. Is an unveiling imminent?

    GK: Not "imminent", but soon.
I think it was confirmed the voices will stay the same.

GK: This is true - same, but better. "GYUH-HUH" indeed.
In the past and with some of their current games, Rare's technical expertise shines through.

GK: Believe you me, Banjo 3 will be a showcase for Rare's "technical expertise", as you put it.

the collecting of things in this game was alright. They shove it over a cliff with their donkey kong game though. Collecting 100 bananas for each character was kind of too much.

Im on the same boat as you. I had a lot of fun with the first one, which was basically a Mario 64 clone. But times have changed and Rare has fell off HARD. i hope they prove me wrong but Microsoft dropped the ball by acquiring Rare. They made up for it by acquiring Lionhead though.

Banjo Kazooie 3 Plot Revealed... Sort of

Rare has chosen April Fool's Day to unveil the plot for Banjo Kazooie 3. The problem is that, only one of the five options is actually the real plot. The rest are fake:

Rumour One: Banjo and Grunty team up against a new threat, falling in love in the process. Sexy post-transformation Grunty makes a return and proves irresistible to our heroic bear, much to Kazooie's disgust. Can the mismatched trio defeat their fire-breathing foe?

Rumour Two: Kazooie is abducted by aliens and Banjo heads out to search the cosmos. Partway through his low-gravity exploits, he discovers who's taken her... and it's a familiar face from the Rare archives who has been 'turned to the green side' by Grunty.

Rumour Three: Banjo and Kazooie travel back through time in pursuit of the witch's giant T.I.T. Grunty drives her Time Interfering Truck back to before the bear and bird met. The duo must reintroduce themselves and relearn everything they know in a completely new way!

Rumour Four: Banjo comes out of retirement to stop his home being redeveloped into tower blocks and malls. To end the struggle, a capricious higher power engineers a bear/witch showdown through worlds of the imagination – with Spiral Mountain's ownership deeds going to the victor.

Rumour Five: War comes to Spiral Mountain, and Banjo becomes a reluctant leader. Ever seen a Jinjo Tank? Or Grunty's Grappling Grenadier Grunts? You will when you take on our innovative RTS-platformer hybrid campaign.
          3 or 4?

I think it's #3 obviously, given the wording and hints to their kind of humor.

                Re: Banjo-Threeie (360)

Banjo-Kazooie 3 was shown to selected media last week.

Last week, as we hinted in a recent article, we were told by a source that Rare was going to show two projects to the press in a very exclusive meeting. It seems that only some selected media were allowed to attend this call; and as it’s obvious no information has seen the light of day yet, so without a doubt there are some NDA to avoid leaks until Rare approves the moment. This information has been extra-officially confirmed in the latest days through several boards (NeoGAF, RWP…) and even a podcast from 1UP, with Banjo-Kazooie 3 being one of those alleged projects. Apparently, those journalists would have played the game.

Besides, Rare have offered to our pals from The Rare Witch Project an exclusive piece of concept art from the game, that they are not allowed to unveil “until the information has been publicly revealed by Rare themselves.” That seems to indicate that, unlike the previous concept art shown last Xmas, this new one may feature some decisive details of the plot. An storyline that, in any case, Rare has already published in its website, but that has cleverly been mixed with other four false plots to keep the hype towards the game in extra-high levels. Both, the contest held by RWP and the Pantsboard with the five possible plots from Rare’s official site, have no deadline; but they can’t be delayed for too long.
IGN says we should be getting info "sometime soon".

...there's nothing like Banjo on 360. Nothing at all.

GK: Heh, you don't know the half of it.
I want a whimsical looking game like the originals, and not simply a mature form of Banjo. Actually, that would suck. Make it bright, colorful, and happy like the N64 games and Im there day 1, xbox360 and all.

GK: Your wish is our command.
How do you know that? It may be minigames for MS's Wii-remote knock-off!

GK: Don't fret, Banjo 3 will be a traditional gamer's game.
Can Rare afford to be all secretive about their projects?

GK: I think the real question is can we afford not to be. Our silence will make sense once we reveal how we've evolved the gameplay.

                    Re: Banjo-Threeie (360)

Embargo lifts May 13th, according to someone who went to see the game. He works for Gamereactor.dk

I went to Rare to see the game two weeks ago and let me just say that this is the biggest evidence of the return of great Rare I've seen in quite a while... and the teaser site will all make sense, when the game is unveiled (embargo is lifted the 13th of may).
Anyways, I won't build too much hype, as we all know how much it can destroy. But the game certainly took me by surprise and the core idea is indeed very fresh and new...

Teaser site will all make since, blueprint design and "CAUTION! BEAR AT WORK"

Plot #4 sounds like it will be the winner: Banjo comes out of retirement to stop his home being redeveloped into tower blocks and malls. To end the struggle, a capricious higher power engineers a bear/witch showdown through worlds of the imagination – with Spiral Mountain's ownership deeds going to the victor.

I loved the humor in these games for the N64- very satirical, which is right up my alley.

The original Banjo game on the N64 is my favorite platformer (a genre I don't like) so to say I'm eagerly anticipating this is a massive understatement.

Another person (owner of Evil Avatar) that got to play the game.

I think people are going to be surprised with what Banjo actually offers.
Yeah, but they've kept a pretty cool feature under wraps for the game. And no, it's not motion control.
