So who came up with the defend mission-type, and why aren't they fired yet?

Is it anything similar to the much hated escort missions that exist throughout gaming?

I call it the crazy seat. It's just a strong seat with a spring under it. Easy way to get the minimalist achievement.

getting 200/200 in Banjo Kazooie was as fun as beating it was years ago. Plus, I put more hours into it than I have some full retail games now. Too bad Banjo Tooie doesn't come out until 2009.

I plan on getting Nuts and Bolts, but is that the only way to activate the stop & swop?

Got the minimal 75 Jiggies to access the final showdown. The last 2 challenges are awesome. Game continues on after too. Now to see if I can get all 131 Jiggies.

                            GiantBomb Review -5/5

Funny, inventive, gorgeous--and cheap. Microsoft decided to charge a mere $40 for Nuts & Bolts, but I got more laughs and more satisfying gameplay out of this one than most of the $60 games I've played this year. And even after spending nearly 20 hours amassing enough jiggies to take down the final boss, I'm compelled to get back in there and keep playing new missions, unlocking new vehicle parts, and exploring more of the game's beautiful world. I had no affection whatsoever for the Banjo-Kazooie franchise or characters going into Nuts & Bolts, but its list of great qualities quietly won me over to make it one of my favorite Xbox 360 games of the year.
Nice to see somebody else likes it as much as me.

                            ...

Browsing the Showroom thread on the official site, I come across this.

instead of building another vehicle to race around, I thought I'd build a carousel this time!

                            tech specs:

Uses 4 tow bars as hinges for the outer swing bars, 1 big and 2 small propellers to power each gondola. passenger gondola is fitted with a water squirter. drive shaft is simply a long pole inserted into a hole (giggle) as I ran out of tow bars. I suspect a tow bar as main pivot would result in less friction but there you go. tried to reduce friction on the drive shaft by adding a balloon at the bottom of it, but the rotating part is too heavy to be lifted a significant amount by the balloon. it still goes pretty fast. the gondolas are detachable and fly some impressive distance. detached gondolas are sort of hard to control, I'll play on until i get the foldable wings, to be able to transform the detached gondola into a plane, making the carousel effectively an elaborate launch pad
                            This jet looks cool too.

                                Another late review.

                                GameSpot - 8.5

The heyday of collecting oodles of shiny objects across expansive worlds may be gone, but that just means that former platforming heroes will have to evolve with the times. Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts takes the basic structure from the duo's previous adventures, strips out the oft-mocked collect-a-thon demands, and slaps an intricate vehicle-creation tool on top. The result is a unique twist on a classic formula that doesn't feel like anything else out there. With a powerful yet wonderfully simple creation tool providing the backbone of your quest, the various tasks spread out across six worlds are novel, engaging, and, most importantly, fun. Despite some control annoyances, Nuts & Bolts is an innovative return for two of gaming's forgotten stars.
