Yeah I know, but thats why there is backlash to the game. I've tried to embrace it, and I'm having fun so far.

I am still on the first one at the moment and enjoying it alot. The second one is waiting to be cracked open once I am done.

I think I am gonna play the 1st one first before buying the 2nd.

Got to many unfinished games to complete before buying even the 1st Bioshock. Now I will pick it up if someone has a sale for like $39. I have not even played the SP on MW2. I still have AC2 and Mass Effect 2. Trying to get these games done before the Baseball games hit.

Once you start playing Bioshock 1, I doubt you will want to put it down and play other games.

I agree. I really enjoyed playing through the first Bioshock. I got bogged down with it for a while, and never finished it. Opened it back up about three days ago, finished it yesterday. Great experience.

I am really enjoying Bioshock 2 also. But, I think I would be lost if I didn't play the first one.

That is the exact reason I'm going to stay away and finish my other games 1st. Heard the 1st was "Very" good.

Looking forward to it though. Peace!!!

Re: BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams

The first was ok. I'll give you my opinion which differs from the others.

The story is amazing, and the atmosphere is great. Those are the only two reasons to play it, and after a couple of hours the gameplay becomes so boring that I just went online and read what happens instead.

The way plasma's work can get tedious - the action itself is pretty generic for a first person shooter. The enemies are extremely limited and overall it becomes very monotonous rather quickly.

In my honest opinion I would say read the story; because it is a great story, and then just go get the second game and hopefully they've improved the gameplay. I would consider my purchased of the game a waste of $49.99 because while the story and atmosphere was great, the gameplay wasn't and when I play a game, I want great gameplay.

The Wifey suprised me with Bioshock 2 tonight for Valentines day. She comes home from work and I'm playing ME 2 and she is talking about how all these people were at Target buying Bioshock 2 and how it must be very good, then she hands me the bag. All I could do was laugh. Gonna wait to open it though because I want to play the 1st one first.

                      Gotta good Wife fellows. Peace!!!

That's a nice gift bro. You will love the game, but play through the first one if you can.

Interesting, I bought mine at Target also. But a different state.

No doubt. Already called a few places to get it and BestBuy has it new for $19.99 and Gamestop used for $17.99. Think I'll just grab a new copy tomorrow at BB. Can't wait. Peace!!!!

The gameplay actually seems tougher to me than the first one. I thought I would be a bada** being a big daddy but I'm having a tougher time surviving in this one. Good thing you can save anywhere though so it's not that big of a deal. Don't like the new hacking tool as well....too easy...miss how it was before.

I got done finishing the first game so now on to the second. What is the best difficulty to play medium or hard? I know hard gets you all the trophies but is hard too hard as I don't want to put my controller through the screen out of frustration? Thanks.

It does get harder. I thought it was too easy at the beginning, but as I got deeper into the game, it definitely got harder and I started to miss on a lot more.

I beat the game this morning (on medium) so I'll give a quick non-spoiler review.

The game definitely seemed a lot harder than the first one. I don't think I ever really worried about dying in the first one, was never low on health packs or anything, but this one? I think I had to use a vita-chamber twice and there were numerous times when I was down to zero health packs after a big battle.

Speaking of the battles - the AI is so much better in this game, to me. I can't even stress that. Enemies team up on you, attack from all different angles, will run and take cover when you're gaining the upper hand in a battle or will run for a health station. I recommend hacking pretty much any health station you can - I must've gotten double-digit kills from just those stations alone killing enemies that tried to use ones that I have already hacked.

Speaking of hacking, as I said at the beginning of this post, the new hacking meter is definitely a lot easier at first, but it does get harder. The green/blue zones progressively get smaller, the needle goes faster, etc. I loved the new hacking meter...in my opinion it puts the stupid mini-game they had in the first one to shame. The best part of the hacking system, for me, was the fact that you hack mid-action, meaning you can't just hack during a battle and not have to worry. You are vulnerable while hacking and it adds a lot more "strategy" to the game. Not to mention the new remote hack tool made things a bit easier, and more strategic, as you could peek around a corner, shoot a hack-dart at a camera or turret, and then take cover behind the wall.

The Big Daddy Vs Big Sister debate isn't even close, for me. The Big Sisters blow the Daddies out of the water in terms of "Oh ****, I have to fight one right now?" Not to mention, AI-wise, the Big Sisters always destroyed the Big Daddies when I would sit back and watch the two go at it. They're...well, I don't know how to put this other than absolutely deadly. They're fast, they're powerful, they have powers, etc. They're just crazy.

The plasmids, while they're all the same as the first at the beginning, become badass once you get to the second and third levels of each. You can charge things up, combine powers and, in general, do some pretty badass things with them. I found myself needing to use the plasmids a lot more in this game, as well, because of the fact that the battles were tougher and you do not have the ability to hold as many health packs. There are also a few new plasmids, though I never unlocked them because I was so set in my ways with the ones from the first game.

The simplification of the "Gene Tonic/Physical Tonics" from the first game into just simply "Gene Tonics" (with a ****load of slots available to open at the Gatherer's Garden stations) made that whole aspect of the game a lot less confusing and a lot easier to navigate.

Weapon-wise, they're all mostly the same, but the spear gun is nasty and the mini-turrets you can throw out are wicked cool as well. I found myself sticking to the Rivet Gun, Drill, and .50 cal machine gun, though, as they seemed to work the best with the varying upgrades and different kinds of ammo.

Researching is a lot harder in this game, as you don't just snap pictures anymore. You have a film-camera, instead of a photo-camera, so you have to start the video and then film your battle with a specific splicer or enemy.

That's about all I can think of. If anyone on the fence of buying/renting/playing at all has any questions feel free to ask.
