Wow, just read the scans. Looks great, hopefully this game comes out in August like the original. The sooner the better, I can't wait.

The first info that came out said that you were Jack and he had returned to Rapture, but it turned out to be fake. Game Informer says that you're playing as the first big Daddy and the mods over on the BioShock forums have confirmed.

Is the teaser site implicating that a slow, lumbering Big Daddy is the "underwater flare" traveling "fast as a Speedboat"?

I thought the game was going to be a prequel. Hmmm. This will be interesting. I loved the first game, I just hope they remain faithful to the original story.

All the die-hards that have been keeping up w/all of the clues, say that the teaser site is saying that the it's referring to the "Big Sister", if you look at the pictures and reports from the teaser site, you'll see that the reports use words like "Tall" and "Lean/Slim"

Call me crazy, but I'm not that excited for the sequel. Sure the graphics are great, and the combat has been improved, but the story seems so similar. You play as a guy, hunt Big Daddies, have two options with the Little Sisters, Tenenbaum briefs you, etc. One enemy hunts you this time which is new, but what else? I thought the Little Sisters were saved, or conversely, were all killed...so how do they come back? Will the ending of the first game feature in at all?

I know some loved the combat, but I just bashed my way through everything in the first title so the traps and plasmid changes aren't that big of a deal. I loved the first game, was hoping this was a prequel, but after the Game Informer study, color me underwhelmed.

I would have preferred a prequel, but I am still very excited for this.

To answer your question, the big sister has been surfacing and kidnapping little girls to restart the chain of little sister operation that we saw in the first game. If you haven't done so, check out this teaser website on the kidnappings :

I agree it will be interesting to see where this game goes storywise. I don't know if it will be able to live up to the lore of the first game, no matter what happens in this game.

Re: BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams

A couple other things that popped into my head...we know there is going to be a big mid-game reveal. I'm sure it'll be something like who or what is under your character's Big Daddy suit, and you'll probably spend the second half of the game outside it. The other end-game reveal, will be who or what is under the Big Sister, maybe Tenenbaum.

Granted, the order can be reversed, and they are just thoughts about the game, but it just shows that sequels by and large suck, especially copy/paste ones like this title seems to be.

I am with you. I will still get the sequel; Bioshock is one of my favorite games of all time. But I would have much preferred a prequel, as was talked about in the beginning of this thread. Seeing Rapture intact and the madness and chaos that ensued would have been just frigging awesome. Almost like an FPS of The Shining, with the Overlook hotel, if you know what I mean.

Yeah it would've been cool to be plopped into Rapture right when things are about to go south, so you get a glimpse of how it was when things were going "as planned" with the community...........and then fight to survive through the game as it all goes incrementally down the toilet.

Yeah I think we all would have liked to have that. Hopefully if the series gets a third game, we could get that.

Color me interested but skeptical. I want to see them bring the story, mythology, and everything to a new game...so much of Bioshock was just writing, art, etc...Does that work when you're a Big Daddy? Maybe, but I'm not buying into it yet. Bioshock is a much tougher game to follow compared to Uncharted, for instance.

well like I said in a previous Bioshock post, the game was quite generic except for the incredible atmosphere and setting. If they cant recapture the same feeling, then yes, this game will fail.

Sequel, prequel, same team developing, it was going to be tough to live up to original either way. I still have full confidence in Jordan Thomas and co. to deliver a great game, but I have to say for the inclusion of multiplayer, why?
