Playing Halo 1 on the 360

I see that Best Buy has the original Halo on sale for $10. I've never played any of the Halo games, but I want to give them a shot. Has anyone ever played Halo 1 or 2 on the 360? Is the emulation pretty good? I still have the original Xbox, but I'd rather not drag it out if I don't have to.

Never had any problems playing either on the 360. If you want to go through just the single player I suggest Halo 1, and I'm pretty sure most would agree that Halo 1 had the best single player of the 3 games. There's no online play for Halo 1 though unless you play over XBConnect, but hardly anyone is ever on that anymore.

Cool, that is what I was wanting to hear. I'm only playing it for the single player experience anyway. I want to give Halo 3 a shot, but I feel like I'll be missing out if I don't go through the first two games beforehand. I figure for $10, it's a no brainer. Plus I have a $10 reward coupon, so basically it's free.

Halo is the greatest game I probably have ever played. I bought my XBox for that game. Just be warned though that it freezes on me on my 360. Even tried two different copies. During certain levels, especially on 2 player co-op, it just quits.

That will be the best damn money you ever will spend. Halo was a trip to play. The very idea of looking up a planet that was shaped like that was exciting. The story was every bit as good as the graphics. Playing Halo started me out playing other first person games like F.E.A.R., Lost Planet,Gears Of War,etc. I buy any game that even tries to emulate the Halo series because it was that special for me to play. Hope that doesn't come off too fanboyish. Either way for a person that wouldn't dare play anything other than sports titles you will be doing yourself an injustice buy not buying it.

If I have any problems, it's no big deal because I still have my original Xbox boxed up in my basement. No big deal if I have to break it out. I just though I might as well do it on the 360 if I can. Does it upconvert to 720p? Apparently Halo is only 480p.

What about the version of the game you can download via XBOX Live onto the 360? Is that just the original game, or did they add XBL to it?

Same game. Nothing new added at all.

Yeah, I got Fable randomly at a bookstore that has used games for 8 bucks...plays great and I didn't want to deal with the crappy MS DSM. The only Live Arcade game I think I'll buy is the Penny Arcade one, otherwise I'm holding off until MS figures their crap out. I don't like having my games require me to have an internet connection since my last 360 had issues.
