OUTRAGE at Microsoft please read

What's your thought on this. I have been coming here for years and just wondered what you guys thought of this. It really pisses me off.

My gamer tag is or was "Butt Burp" when I tried to play online today I got an error message saying I was no longer allowed to use the name Butt Burp, that I had to change my name. I have had this name since day one of live. Now for no reason except some dump XXX lawyer at Microsoft thought what?? What the heck is going on. Is that name going to change the way we look and feel towards each other. Microsoft thinks so, truly unbelievable. Talk about big brother. Why was the name fine for a number of years and now it's not????

First off, LMAO @ that gamertag !!! I am amused by some of the gamertag's that I've seen over the years on Live...LOL!! While playing the first GRAW a few years ago, I played against someone who's GT was something along the lines of SLAPDATHO...LOL!!!

In your case, I have to agree that it is odd that MS has not had a problem with the gamertag over the years but all of a sudden you get flagged for being inappropriate or whatever!!! Maybe someone that you played against had a burr up their but after you whupped them online and issued a complaint?? That's the only thing I can come up with as an explanation......

My guess is someone reported your name as offensive. They looked at it, and removed the name.

I've heard they are no longer allowing gamer tags with the number "666" in it so it really doesn't surprise me. I guess they are starting to crack down on some names. I've seen plenty worse than "Butt Burp" though, that is actually really funny.

Not really 'big brother' in that this is a company, not the government, and you can play by their rules or choose not to play. You have a choice.

I don't see the name being offensive, but I'm not the man in charge. If it makes you that mad, stop giving MS money.

Basically they say that they just evaluate things as they come, if someone reports you, etc....You could have a very offensive name for a long time, but if no one notices it and reports it you'd think it was ok. When they eventually look at it (for whatever reason), they may mark it as offensive.

Just thought I'd link you to what they say on the stuff, it was a cool interview and you could learn a lot.

Side question...why do people want names like that? I know they kinda make you chuckle at first, but in the long run I don't want someone calling me "Aborted Fetus", "Butt Burp", "ILikeFistsUpMyAss", you know? Just don't see the appeal long term. Sure, you'll make people laugh at first, but then you're the guy known as "MyAssLeaksWhenIFart" forever.

Its all because someone reported you. They could just say, my son is 10 years old, and he seen that name and i thought it was inappropriate.

I dont think your name was bad at all, but i can understand why they did it.
