Am I the only one on OS who actually keeps the majority of games I buy?

Nowhere else but OS do I see such a large number of folks who seem to trade in games after months or even weeks of use.

My question is....wouldn't it be cheaper to simply RENT the games for 8 bucks a week instead of buying a 60 dollar game then trading it in back to Gamestop, etc. for half the price you bought for...or less?

I only BUY sports games and FPS shooters for the most part anyway. Games like Bio Shock, etc. that I love but will only play one time through I rent.

I find myself going back to games such as GRAW 2, etc. with all the downloadables, etc. Or I get the urge to pull out Rainbow Six for a night, etc. I just don't get the trade in thing.

I've only traded in 2 games my whole life and both times Gamestop basically raped me on the rebuy price.

    Just curious.

No, I do, I have 34 playstation games, all the Final Fantasies are my joy, I even have all the NCAA and Maddens from 05 to 07. I also have God of War, Kingdom Hearts, Rogue Galaxy and the Call of Duties.

For the 360, I've kept them all but Madden, and I just got the PS3 a couple months ago.

I hang on to mine - don't like getting screwed on resale. I'll wait until there are used copies of rpg's before I purchase also. I mostly buy sports games and we all know you don't get any $$ for those. My FPS are all for PC - so no resale either.

It must be a terrible game for me to resell it right away - Madden the last 2 years for 360 and NCAA 05 for PS2 come to mind.

I refuse to have more than 3-4 games at any one time. I found that when I have more than 3, no one game gets the attention it deserves. If I want a new one, I have to get rid of an old one either by going on ebay, to gamestop, or selling/giving to a friend.

I had a collection of around 30 games when I was at my peak with the 360, all bought within a year. I did the same with the ps2, dreamcast, etc.

I just don't see the point in paying retail prices for a game, then trading it in for nothing, and then still having to pay out of pocket for the game you're trading in a game for.

I also buy lots of games off ebay or keep my gamefly games.

Re: Am I the only one on OS who actually keeps the majority of games I buy?

After I'm tired of a sports games or beat a non-sports game I sell them on half.com, depending on the turnaround between the release date and how long it takes me to finish them, I get anywhere from $20-$35 on a $60 360 game.

I don't rent because there is no telling how long a game is going to take me, sometimes I can fly through a 20 hour game in a few weeks, other times I hold onto a 10 hour game for months before finishing it.

I used to trade through Gamestop, but when it got to the point where they would give $15 on a game that was 2 months old, I had to stop. I sell online through half.com, with the money I get it is basically paying for every 3rd game I buy(buy two @ $60 a piece, sell both for an average of $30 a piece, use that $60 to buy a new game...).

If I thought I was ever going to go back through some of my old games, I might keep them around, but when I can pay for half of my next game by selling online, it is too tempting of a deal for me.

I keep pretty much all of mine. I'll still play my SNES from time to time, when I am home that is.

                I still have Madden 06.

That should tell you where my games go, or don't go, after I buy them.

I almost never trade in. There just isn't a point in getting (at best) half the price of what you originally paid. Renting is definitely the way to go unless you just have loads of cash to blow on video games. I have mouths to feed!

I tend to hold on to my games for quite awhile. Usually, I'll keep them until the sequel or the following year's version comes out. If I realize that I have'nt played a particular game in quite some time, I'll put it up on Ebay.

Overall, I'll end up holding on to games longer than the average person.

I only buy games that I know that I'm going to keep unless I find them on ebay for much cheaper than in stores. Every game I've bought on ebay I've kept for a few weeks and then sold it later but if I buy a game full price then it's something that I actually want.

Other than that I rent every other game. I will never understand why people waste money blindly buying games then complaining about how much they spend.

I keep every game I buy. Thankfully with achievements and such the rare none sports games will give me the challenge of getting XB Gamer Points so if i'm stuck on a part i'll have incentive to get over the hump so to speak.

I think I've only traded in like 2 or 3 games ever. I'm the same way as you AA, the only games I buy are sports and FPS with good multiplayer that I know I'll play. I'll occasionally buy other games that have a good replayability factor like GTA or Mass Effect, but for just purely single player games I'll rent them.

I trade in everything except major titles I'll play down the road. I haven't paid retail for a game in almost 4 years now. I buy a game for $60, play it a few weeks, trade it in, get 30, get game B for 30, rinse repeat.

Also, doesn't hurt that I have a few hookups who give me full $60 credit back on many games I bring back to trade in
