^^^Mine works fine...downloaded updates....connected and played. I can understand why u guys would be frustrated though. Hope everything works fine for u guys as imo this game is great!

Give them a break. Even with the beta test it's hard to figure out how many people are going to be online on day one. I work in IT and though we test the heck out of things, when it's time to go live and you have a large project like this, it's impossible to be accurate. In a few days, a week, things will be ironed out. Also, other servers aren't just magically built in a second. It takes time and money and planning, so things won't be fixed instantly. A few days to a week or so is reasonable.

I'm not sure...if a online game only game isn't playable for someone until a week after they purchase it I'd be pretty annoyed....

I agree with you, they can plan all they want but getting slammed on day 1 always provides unexpected issues...just saying that someone purchasing a online only game and then not being able to play it for a long time has a right to be pissed. It's not like you can just go play single player like most games.

Have there been any reviews of this yet? Seems weird cause 99% of games usually have reviews out on release day or the day after.

I heard that their are no reviews because the game wasn't released early to any of the gaming sites or magazines.

Online only games usaully come a couple days later so they can test it out with the community being full swing.

Makes sense...just made me wonder especially after reading a Little Big Planet review and that game's not even a week or so away from release still...

O I am gonna post my impressions here since ther isnt a thread for for it.

Initially the game has 2 downloads that take for forever to DL. Or in my case 3 since I didnt DL the firmware 2.5 yet which you have to have. So about 45 mins later after the firmware, game installer, and the 1.1 patch which I had to DL twice because of the corrupted data stuff I got to play and heres my write up:

Graphics: 9 The graphics in Socom are very nice. Players look great and the enviromnents look very nice as well. Explosions are nicely done and the smoke is realistic. Lighting is very well done when going from dark to light and I love how socom captures the little things that go on during a firefight. Kinda sucks though that you cant run around in ghillie suits or stuff like that to blend in more.

Sound: 9.5 The only thing that kept this from being a 10 would be the fact in COD modern warfare no matter where you were in the map, you could feel and hear whats happening around you. Whether it be bullets or nature. Here you do but not as chaotic which might be a personnell preference. The weapon sounds are absolutely fabulous and righ on. I love it! Each gun had its own familiar ring to it as well as kick as well as explosion and reactions. Souns was very well done, to say the least.

Gameplay: 8.5 I really dont like the gameplay, but then again I never have liked the socom gameplay. For me I always thought that thay didnt use the controller efficiently enough for me. Maybe I got spoiled with the layout config for COD MW but the layout in socom, just doesnt do it for me. I hate the fact I have to leave my left analog and push up on the directional pad to zoom or use my weapon optics. Kinda renders them useless if you ask me. Using L2 would have been better and then to zoom in a scope with the directional pad would have been fine. There are others but this is the one that I hated most. Not a game killer but a bummer none the less. Also when looking for matches, I wish there were a filter like in almost every other online game for ranked and unranked. Instead its hard as crap to get into one let alone find one. I think the online match search could have been dealt with way differently to make it more enjoyable.

Overall: 8.8

Hope this answers some ?'s for you guys. I love the game and will continue playing it no doubt. Even though I gave it an 8.8 its still a pretty sweet title and worth the $ for the headset alone to get it. Or DL it for 39.99 on PSN its worth that price for a good game.

got a few minutes in. Of course the map was Crossroads.

How does the different classes work? I was in Mercenaries vs. Commandos. Didn't see anything but those 2 classes on the soldier customization screen too.

Game ran real smooth. Playing vs a lot of noobs as they sucked pretty bad. I would just walk towards them while they were shooting at me and kill them.

I have heard a lot of people complaining about the controls.... I guess everyone is so used to the COD 4 controls.

i just got done playing with, wookie48, FLIGHTWHITE, Coupleofew, and it was a lto of fun. we were in an Operation Sports room and we were owning Demolition, lol

Eton Rifles I didnt get a clan invite, I dont know if you sent one out to me or not. Ill be on later tonight If anyone wants to play again!
