    Devil May Cry 4

I was finally able to rent the game. I was intending of picking it up when it came out, but Lost Odyssey was coming out a week later so i forgot about DMC4. Any way first and foremost I have to say: The graphics are gorgeous. Capcom has done a fantastic job with their graphic engine. If RE5 is using this engine but enhanced, then we are truly in for a treat.

However theres also a down fall here, i'm not sure if its due to their engine, but the game feels so tight and linear. The whole game is about walking into a corridor and fighting a bunch of enemies, and repeating the step until you get to a boss.

Not to bring this up for chaos, but i'm a big Ninja Gaiden fan. And even though both are similar, in Ninja Gaiden the environments feel so much bigger. In Ninja Gaiden like DMC4, theres only one correct path; Yet in Ninja Gaiden it gives us the illusion that there are more possible paths even though theres only one. DMC4 doesn't do that at all.

And the one thing that bothers me is the way the single player is structured. Its soo strange that it bothers me because Ninja Gaiden is structured the same way yet i don't mind it at all in Ninja Gaiden. I think the reason is due to to the fact that we can update our skills and buy items in at the start of the mission before even diving into the mission. For some reason i think the way its structured takes me more out of the game then it's suppose to.

But there is one place where this game shines way above Ninja Gaiden and thats in terms of cinematics and story. The scenes in here are just wonderful. Their so well scripted and full of action. The story no matter how cheesy it may get sometimes, holds a mystery over it that makes it hard to downplay. I want to know why Nero had that devil arm, want to know why the "holiness" is controlling that huge statue. It may not be the best story, but the way its being told is making it very interesting.

The best part of the game is definitely the combat. I love Ninja Gaiden's combat and thought i would like DMC4's so much, but i was wrong. The combat is fast and fluid. I just got Dante and he feels so different from Nero His ability to change styles on the fly is cool too, but its a bit too much. Then again this is my first DMC game and it was my first mission with Dante. But so far i'm leaning towards Nero because the Devil bringer is a great combat tool.

I'm still bugged into why i don't like the single player structure, but i'll look past.............Humm i think its because it reminds me more of the mission mode in Ninja Gaiden then an actual story mode.

All i all, this game is pretty good and i would like to see a sequel.

It was alright, pretty short but that's good for this game since it go so repetitive. The camera is terrible though they really need to get rid of random fixed camera parts.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

the back tracking is horrible. Why in the world do i have to fight the same bosses i fought with Nero this time around with Dante? They should of reconsidered that.

Finally beat the game, and i still don't understand why i had to fight lots of those bosses 3 times, couldn't they think of anything better? The back tracking wasn't that bad because Dante is extremely different from Nero. I thought Nero was the better character (fight wise) but now that i've beat the entire game; i have to say that Dante kicks ***.

Once you get use to his styles, he gets loads of power ups. Its almost like their forcing you to love Dante over Nero. Dante sh*ts over Nero in terms of moves and dept. However Nero's devil bringer isn't a slouch as well.

I still think the graphics are insane. Since the cinematics are all in-game with field of dept, its amazing what they did with the game. However it still feels too tight, the levels feel so narrow and linear.

I hate the side mission craps. They are horrible. And the worst part is that they put them into the story. During the main story i didn't want to do those. Yet the only way to unlock them i think is to do them during the single player campaign right?

Side note: Might not be a real concern, but i beat the game and only have 80 points to show for it from. The only other game to have such a horrible achievement system (probably not horrible but hard was Blue Dragon)

Nero was better with the fighting but Dante had the best guns. I couldn't believe all the styles he had.
