^^ Yeah, I guess it was called Creeping Dark. Anyway, I still haven't got all the other ones, so I can only use that one. Anyway, thanks for the reply.

Was going to wait for a sale but just rented it since it's supposed to be so short. Loving it so far. Seems like they spent an absolute fortune on music for it to play for 10 seconds per song, props for attention to detail. The previously on the Darkness thing is worth watching too.Comment

Re: The Darkness 2 (PS3/X360) Revealed
It gets Call of Dutyized/Unchartedfied for much of the middle -grenade,hide,wait,attack,repeat- so is pretty poor for a while. The second boss is incredibly cheap. There's 19 chapters and one of the endings is pretty much given away in chapter 13.
So amazing start, kerplunk then gets to average for the very end.Comment

I was surprised to see 3 used copies in the store today. Is it that short or that bad?Joshua:

So far the game is a blast. Unfortunately I just bought it yesterday and I'm almost done with it. It just follows the trend of games where they seem to get shorter. Would have liked to see some side quests like the first one.Because I live in van down by the river...Comment

Re: The Darkness 2 (PS3/X360) Revealed
As long as it sells well enough (we'll see), developers have no need to make games' campaign longer. Unfortunately, "too many" people buy some short games, and that's why this trend keeps going. I will probably buy it within a few months or a year (used). Not going to pay $60 for that, not even $30, even though I'd really like to play it.My Specs:

Re: The Darkness 2 (PS3/X360) Revealed
just finished it myself. really enjoyed the ending. Mechanically it was fine. The gunplay/arms got really nice and chaotic at the end, and I felt very powerful by the end of the game.

Re: The Darkness 2 (PS3/X360) Revealed
I agree, I don't want a boring experience that seems to never end. But still I don't think that it's ok for a game to be really good but short. Why can't we have it all? It's not like it has to be either one, there were some longer great games in the past...
I don't know when and who started the trend of short campaigns. Maybe it has something to do with the online feature that has become really BIG the past 5 years (I usually don't play online, though). My Specs:

If you do a huge game like Skyrim or GTA, you can feel comfortable spending 200+ million on 30-40 hours of gameplay (or more) knowing that you will recoup that investment.
A game like Saints Row The Third, however, has a relatively short main campaign for the scope of the game. It's much shorter than GTA4 and LA Noire, and slightly shorter than Red Dead Redemption.
The other problem is that you build all these assets and all this story and you actually want people to see it. What good is building this awesome world and having these great story moments if you're a game like LA Noire, which should have been a 15 hour game, but was ballooned out to make it a "meatier experience." That game should have ended at homicide, and instead there was another 5-6 hours of gameplay tacked on, which really hurt public sentiment of that game. By the way, the studio CLOSED a few weeks after the game shipped.
Now I don't know what the budget of Darkness 2 was, but I can't imagine it was that high. People clamored for a sequel to a game which didn't sell all that well. If you want the sequel, there will be compromises. One of which is apparently the length of the story.Comment

Picked this game up new for very cheap today. I heard the campaign is short but the gameplay is real fun. This is holding me off getting into Bioshock Infinite. I think the gunplay and powers, though different, are more fun in this game than Infinite.
I can see that The Darkness 2 wouldn't be everyones cup of tea, it is adult and dark and trippy. I A solid niche game. I have been happy to skip some of the cut scenes just to get back into the action as this game is really about the gameplay for me and not the story. We are the music makers...Comment
